Blanca Fernandez

A Funeral Mass will be at 10:00 a.m. Monday, November 5, 2012, at St. Vincent Pallotti Catholic Church, Abilene, with Father Terry Brenon officiating. Burial will follow in Caps Cemetery, Caps, Texas, directed by Community Memorial Funeral Home, 1443 North 2nd Street, Abilene. Serving as pallbearers are Joe Salas, Eddie Pedroza, Johnny Landeros, Josh Pedroza, Chris Stokes, Rickey M. Stokes Jr., Andrew Fernandez, Ricky Landeros, Jacob Guajardo, Joe Ramos, Michael Gonzales, and Tyler Fernandez. The family will receive friends at a visitation 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.

Blanca was born November 16, 1937 in Piedras Negras, Mexico. She grew up and attended school there. Blanca married Jesus “Chuy” Fernandez in 1957. She was employed at Hendrick Medical Center in the Housekeeping Department, retiring after 18 years of service. Blanca had a passion for cooking, enjoyed playing Bingo, loved dancing and listening to music.

Blanca was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Jesus “Chuy” Fernandez.

Survivors include two sons, Jesse Fernandez and Roy Fernandez; five daughters, Rosie Landeros, Sandra Sylvia Stokes, Martina Rodriguez, Mary Landeros, and Lupe Fernandez; twenty-four grandchildren; and twenty-nine great-grandchildren.
