Beth was born on June 22, 1931 in Abilene, Texas to Nolan Alfred and Pauline L. (Phillips) Stroud. A 1948 graduate of Abilene High School, she married Claude Roberson on June 24, 1950 in Abilene, and began their married life with a brief honeymoon at Possum Kingdom Lake. A hard worker, she took classes at Draughn’s Business College and worked for eighteen years at Abilene Christian University until her retirement.
A Christian woman, she was a longtime member of Hillcrest Church of Christ and was a member of Hamby Church of Christ at the time of her passing. She was a master needleworker, gifting her embroidery and crochet items to everyone she loved. When she was in good health, she loved to travel. She, her sisters, and lifelong friend Shirley Wright drove cross-country to Alaska twice, and she even dipped her foot in the Arctic Ocean on one of her trips.
As with many women, she was a wonderful cook and loved to show her love through her food. Her Red Velvet and Caramel Cakes, Fried Chicken, Cornbread and Salmon Patties will be missed and not easily replicated. Above all else, she was hospitable, shared what she had with everyone, and love her family deeply and proudly.
Beth was preceded in death by her parents, husband Claude, sister Nelda Roberson, two brothers Douglas Meadows and Jerry Don Stroud, and one grandson John Michael Vieth.
Survivors include her son, Chuck Roberson and wife Georgan; daughter, Rita Vieth and husband Eric; one sister, Paula Roberts; four grandchildren, Cole Roberson and wife Lauren, Katie Davis and husband Shane, Jillian Spoor and husband Isaac, and Douglas Vieth; four great-grandchildren, Charlie Roberson, Abbey, Ella and Oliver Spoor; and many extended family members and friends.
