Bennie Jack Swindle, 85, passed away Sunday, September 12, 2010 at his home. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at the Elliott-Hamil Chapel of Faith, 5701 Hwy 277 South with Pastor Kevin Ueckert officiating. Visitation in Abilene is 6 to 8 pm Tuesday at the funeral home. A graveside service with Pastor Larry Bennett officiating will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday in Monahans Memorial Cemetery in Monahans, Texas. Visitation in Monahans is 6 to 8 pm Wednesday at Harkey Funeral Home.
Bennie Jack Swindle was born June 12, 1925 in Rising Star, Texas. He worked for Southwestern Bell Telephone Company for 32 years and was a member of The Telephone Pioneers. He was a lifetime member of the VFW and a lifetime member of the National, State and Local Good Sams R.V. Clubs. He loved traveling with his wife Phyllis in their RV and stopped at as many golf courses as possible to play golf while traveling. He was a Baptist.
Jack was preceded in death by his parents, Henry and Marjorie (Black) Swindle; sister, Bonnie Soloman; grandson, Billy Jack Hume; and son-in-law, Louis Simmons.
Survivors include his wife, Phyllis Swindle of Abilene; son and daughter-in-law, Tom and Katherine Swindle of Helena, Montana; daughter, Jackie Simmons of Abilene; brother and sister-in-law, Jim and Arlene Swindle of Colorado City, TX; sister and brother-in-law, Melinda and Raymond Bailey of Cisco, TX; 7 grandchildren, 8 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
