A service celebrating his life will be held on Tuesday, October 11, 2022 at 10:00 AM at Elliott-Hamil Funeral Home 5701 Hwy. 277 S. in Abilene with Rev. John Fannin and Rev. Dale Jackson officiating. Interment will follow in Hylton Cemetery in Nolan County under the direction of Elliott-Hamil Funeral Home. Visitation will be held on Monday evening from 6-8:00 PM also at the funeral home.
Barry Lynn was born on March 24, 1947 in Bronte to the late William F. and Zora (Stewart) Waggoner. He was raised in the community of Hylton where he attended Blackwell Schools. He worked in the oil field for many years with Halliburton and eventually retired from Roberts Truck Center. He was a devoted Christian man and faithful member of Second Baptist Church. He always enjoyed lending a helping hand to others and this was displayed through his work with the Hawley Volunteer Fire Department. He was a bee keeper, loved to fish and enjoyed car racing. He married the love of his life Rebecca Jane Jennings in 1977. He was a devoted father and life only got better when he became a Paw Paw.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and his brother, Harold Waggoner.
He is survived by his devoted wife, Becky Waggoner; his daughter, Nancy Smith and her husband William of Baird; his grandchildren, Edson, Brazos, and Megan Smith; his brother Billy Joe Waggoner; his uncle, Harley Waggoner; nephew, Terry Wayne Waggoner; numerous other relatives and special friends.
