OBITUARY

William Wilson

September 27, 1945 – June 24, 2021
Obituary of William Wilson
IN THE CARE OF

Henderson's Fraser Valley Funeral Home

It is with the heaviest of hearts that the family of Bill announce his peaceful passing on Thursday, June 24, 2021 at Abbotsford, B.C., after a long, admirable battle with cancer.

Dad is survived by his brother Ian and sister Margaret of Scotland, his four children Kerry (Peter), Keith, Ken (Sinead), and Jamie (Meighan), his 10 grandchildren, 8 great-grandchildren (with his 9th on the way), as well as extended family and friends. Dad is predeceased by his parents William Gorman and Elizabeth Wilson (Atchison) of Bathgate, Scotland.

Dad was born and raised in Bathgate, Scotland. Upon completing his millwright apprenticeship in 1966, he was quickly off to Canada, first arriving in Toronto. His wife and infant daughter Kerry soon joined him there. However, it was not long before they were making their way west towards British Columbia. Dad loved B.C as soon as he arrived and knew it would be his home for the rest of his life.

Dad did everything with 110% commitment. He was a story teller. Every story was told with the same passion, enthusiasm and humour no matter how many times you heard it. He was a dedicated worker and skilled tradesman. A person of integrity and a dependable friend to all.

Dad loved history. He read literally hundreds of books. Want to know something about history? No need for Google, just ask dad. He was passionate about travelling, dancing, and fishing. He and his trusted lab Blondie hiked and boated countless miles of the Fraser and Vedder rivers getting to know every nook and cranny. The boat and rods were always ready go. It was very rare he came home without a fish and he could catch them as good as anyone.

As his kids, grandchildren and great-grandchildren grew up, dad always made sure they were signed up for baseball, soccer, swimming, or whatever else they were into. He coached, he managed, but most of all, he cheered. He was an incredible dad, grandpa and great grandpa. He loved his family. He was never, ever shy about saying the words "I love you" or giving a hug. Even with his health failing, he still never missed an opportunity to dance with his great grandkids. You always knew dad loved you.

Dad had an unwavering faith in Jesus Christ. He was a man of prayer. If you had any type of interaction with dad or if your name somehow came up in conversation, you were prayed for.

He was very generous, in a very quiet way. He gave to many worthy causes however the three most important were World Vision, Operation Smiles and the Leprosy Mission.

Dad, you were known as a true gentleman. We love you and will miss you incredibly. Until we meet again.
