Violet was born Margaret Violet Saari in Hespero, AB in 1939, and was one of 9 children. She was married to her late husband John in 1960. Family was very important to her, and she often took care of her various nieces & nephews. She was often referred to lovingly as the favorite aunt. She made annual trips back to Alberta with her husband John to visit all the family & she always made sure to keep in touch with everyone. She was always supportive of her daughters & grandchildren in everything they wanted to do.
Violet was very kind & cared about people. She was an active member of the Lytton Community, volunteering for the hospital auxiliary, & supporting her husband with the Lytton Lions Club activities. She was a nanny, and a cook, and worked at both the Lytton Elementary & High Schools as a secretary. Violet was always available for the students & their parents.
Violet made friends everywhere she went, and was an enthusiastic red hat lady, and the greeter for Chartwell Cedarbrooke, welcoming new residents & showing them around. She loved sewing, quilting, scrapbooking, along with many other crafts that she would spend time doing. She sewed her daughter Liisa’s wedding dress & bridesmaid dresses, Melanie’s high school graduation dress, & Laurel & Birdy’s Prom skirts, as well as many things for others. She found a passion for playing pool later in life, and got quite a kick out of playing with her friends at Chartwell Cedarbrooke. She was even gifted her own special pool cue. She loved listening to live music, but especially that of her late husband, her daughter Liisa, and her grandchildren Laurel & Birdy. Violet enjoyed travelling with Melanie and Erin, and loved her trips to Finland, Nashville, Yellowstone Park and many other places
Violet kept her feisty, fighting spirit until the end, and passed knowing she was loved.
The family has chosen not to have a public service and asks that in place of flowers donations are made to the BC Cancer Society
