My Friend
We all need friends. It is so true;
When dull or sad or gay or blue.
For true friends always see you through
And help the unshaped life to hue.
Not all you meet will be your friends,
For they won’t see things to the end;
A good friend to life’s purpose lends,
And helps life’s scattered parts to blend.
Friends are more precious than silver or gold,
Or all the joys that life can hold.
They never can be bought or sold;
Their warmth and value can’ner be told.
Be patient friend when hard your road.
More loving still when heavy your load.
For friendship does the giver goad
Until life’s end at last be showed.
Be constant friend in all you do,
And even if your friends be few;
Remember they all pull for you
And hope your skies are always blue.
My prayer is said for you each day,
My thoughts directed in your way.
May your life in easy manner sway.
As you thrive from day to day.
Thank you friend for what you are;
With help from you I’ll travel far.
I hope your trust I will not mar,
Your flow of faith will never bar.
