He was born on his parents farm in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan on February 25th 1926. He was the 5th of 10 children born to Peter S Reimer and Elizabeth (Shrine) Reimer.
Peter joined the Royal Canadian Navy at the age of 18 and served 3 yrs. Most of his enlistment was spent patrolling the waters off of Nova Scotia and Vancouver Island. He met our mother ( Lula Doerksen ) while on leave his last year of enlistment and they were married in 1946. They were married 65 years when God called our Mother home. To this union were born 4 children. My father had a deep abiding love for his Lord and never ceased to share and live our his faith.
After several jobs he chose to become a barber and had his own barber shops, 1 in Everett WA and 1 in Anacortes WA. He gave hundreds of free haircuts over the yrs to men down on their luck and while cutting their hair, he would share the love of Jesus with them. Many souls were won for the kingdom this way.
Peter was very active in Church, being a teaching Sunday school, song leader and choir leader with his amazing baritone voice. He and his wife took in many children over the years who were having troubles in their own homes. They also worked with Street kids in Seattle WA and ran the Anacortes food bank for many years.
Peter and Lou moved back to Canada in 2008. Peter moved to Menno housing in 2011 shortly after his wife went into care there also. He received wonderful care for 9 yrs and always was very grateful to the staff for their kindness and respect towards him.
He leaves behind 3 sons, Rick (Sharon), Russ (Lynn), Ron (Becky) Reimer and 1 daughter Shawna (Henry) Giesbrecht, 12 grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren grandchildren and 1 grt great grandchild. He also leaves to mourn his passing, 1 brother, Ben (Betty) Reimer and 1 sister-in-law Wanda Reimer. He was predeceased by his parents, his wife, 6 brothers, 2 sisters and one grandaughter. Our Father was a happy and kindhearted man of God and we will miss his unconditional love, his words of encouragement and his prayers.Till we meet again papa...You will be forever loved.
