Patricia Fowler was born on October 16th, 1939 in Woolwich, London England. She was the only child of Doris and Edward Ellis. Although an only child she was close with her cousins, and fondly recalled working with Irene in the banking sector when she finished school. In fact just a month before she passed she was telling stories of the two of them commuting into the city and rushing over London Bridge to get to the office on time. Pat thought of Irene as a sister and they remained close until the end, enjoying many holidays and visits over the years.
Pat and Cliff wed on July 25th, 1959 and were married for 62 years until Cliff passed in October 2021. They had two children; Rick was born in Hanover, Germany on August 23rd, 1961 at a British Army base, followed by David born in Woolwich on August 30th, 1963. The young family moved to Canada in 1966, and Pat’s parents joined them in Abbotsford, BC in 1974. Pat was Cliff’s receptionist from 1972 to 2005 when she retired; although those of us in the know maintain that her title should have been Chief Operating Officer of what was a successful business. She took to bridge, curling, and golf in Canada, and was an avid hockey, golf, and tennis fan. One could always expect a debrief of the latest sport or world events when calling or visiting.
A frequent topic of discussion with family and friends was always travel plans, and Pat traveled the globe both with Cliff or with her friends, from China to Africa, the UK to Europe, Mexico to Hawaii, and everywhere between. A passion for traveling and learning about the world was certainly passed on to the family.
Pat possessed intelligence and wit in spades. She will be remembered as a loving mother and Nan, a dear friend to many, and she will be greatly missed.
