With deep sadness, we announce the sudden passing of John Herbert Flegal, after a long battle with diabetes. John passed away peacefully on February 11, 2022, at the Abbotsford Regional Hospital at the age of 69. John was born in Lacombe, Alberta. He spent many years working in the Alberta oil fields until 1989 when the family moved from Edmonton to Abbotsford. He is survived by his loving wife Mavis, daughter Crystal Davids (Shawn), son Trevor Flegal (Crystal), and grandchildren Tyus, Dexter, Owen and Jaydia, sister Margaret (Arnold), sister Barbara (Walter), and brother David, and pre-deceased by his sister in-law Bonnie Flegal. He will be missed by many friends and neighbor’s at Crown Point. John enjoyed good times with family and friends at the Tulameen family cabin, at The Glen, and in Fairmont Hot Springs. More memories of our dad include his red Nowsco jacket, and him using phrases such as “Prit Near” and “El Torro Poo-poo.” You could find him at the campfire telling stories, at the card table in a game of Crib, or back in the day, on a creeper under a semi. A celebration of life will be held at a later date. Donations can be made to the BC Diabetic Association in John’s honour. RIP “The John.”
