Left to mourn her passing are her husband of 57 years, Masaru, her children and grandchildren: Craig (Maki) of Tokyo, Japan; Travis (Elizabeth), Adam, and Tomas; and Daryl (Karen) Takeuchi of Winnipeg, Manitoba; her sisters Seiko (Seiji) Takeuchi of Burlington, Ontario; Nancy (Henry) Sumi of Toronto, Ontario; and sister-in-law, Amy Nagamatsu of Langley, BC, as well as many nieces and nephews.
Jean was predeceased by her parents, Denshin and Katsue Nagamatsu and brother, Roy. Jean was born in Pitt Meadows, BC and was relocated during the war. After years in Winnipeg, she returned to BC with Mas and their young family. She resided in Abbotsford until her passing.
Jean was a determined woman of strong work ethics and was driven to do and provide the best for her family. Jean worked for many years at various positions at School District 34 and at the MSA hospital.
Mom retired from work during her first battle with cancer. She remained cancer-free for over twelve years. For many of those years, she would walk around Mill Lake and greet those who knew her and those who would become new friends. More recently, she devoted all her energy to the care of Mas until he moved into extended care.
Jean will be fondly remembered for her love of family, food and entertaining, dancing and a cold beverage! She took great pride in remembering names, birthdays, anniversaries, and other dates of significance, always sending cards with personal hand written notes. She was extremely proud of her boys (sons and grandsons), their accomplishments, and her three daughters-in-law.
Our family wishes to extend heartfelt thanks and appreciation to Dr. R Winston, for his care, compassion, and support for Mom over the past few years. Mom was a warrior and fought her battle on her own terms and her own way.
Flowers and Koden gratefully declined.
