Henry Hamm passed away peacefully in Abbotsford, BC, on June 28, 2010 at the age of 88. Survived by his beloved wife of 65 years, Helen, and their six children: Hank, Art (Cindy), Phyllis, Rick, Shirley (Dennis) and Rob (Jill). Also grieving are fifteen grandchildren and sixteen great-grandchildren, and Henry’s siblings: Martin (Anne), Lydia Kroeker, Martha (Wally), Cornie (Linda), Vic (Connie) Jake (Elsie); sister-in-law Tina Wiebe and brother-in-law Art Wiebe. Predeceased by siblings John, Annie, David and Mary. Henry was born on February 24, 1922 in Ruekenau, Russia to Mennonite Brethren parents. The family immigrated to Canada in 1924, settling in southern Manitoba. Henry married Helen in 1944. They moved west to B.C. in the late 50’s, living in Clearbrook, Fort St. John, Kamloops, Nanaimo, and retired to Clearbrook in the ‘80s. Henry was always so proud of his expansive family and loved having regular get-togethers. He was a man of faith who looked forward to heaven. The family would like to thank the doctors and nursing staff at Abbotsford Hospital for their excellent and compassionate care during Dad’s brief illness. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, July 3 at 3:30 p.m. at Woodlawn Funeral Home, 2310 Clearbrook Road, Abbotsford.
