Helena is survived by five of her six children: Priscilla (Russell) Reid, Gerald Sawatzky, Kathleen (Kevin) Klassen, Shiela (Andy) McCausland, Naomi (Geoff) Martens, and son-in-law Milton Harder. She is survived by her grandchildren: Melissa (Stephen) Thiessen, Laura Harder, Maegan (Haniel) Santiago Martinez, Andrew (Caroline) Harder, Jordan (Dani) Reid, Alyssa Harder, Stephen (Katie) McCausland, Andrew McCausland, Anna McCausland, Samuel Martens, Sophie Martens, and Anaya Martens. She is also survived by her great grandchildren: Kesler Thiessen, Benji Thiessen, Juan Antonio Santiago Martinez, and Leah Sophia Santiago Martinez.
Helena is predeceased by her husband, Frank Sawatzky, and her daughter, Colleen Harder. She is also predeceased by her siblings: Sarah Friesen, Katherine Wall, John Bartsch, Henry Bartsch, Agnes Hiebert, Mary Hiebert, and George Bartsch. She is survived by her sister Anne (Ben) Funk and Menno (Leola) Bartsch.
Helena was a faithful follower of Jesus Christ. She valued the Bible and regularly read and studied it. She faithfully loved her husband and children. Family and extended family were very important to her. Helena was compassionate and hardworking. She enjoyed inviting people into her home and feeding them. In her younger years she worked at the MSA Hospital as a dietary aid. As her children grew older she worked as a home support worker. For many years Helena and Frank were custodians at their church, Grace FEBC. It was always important to her to be a part of a church and serve there. She spent her last years as part of Clearbrook MB Church.
Helena leaves a legacy of faithfulness and love for her children, grandchildren, great grandchildren and other family members and friends.
