Helen was born on December 13, 1937 in Three Hills, Alberta to Johann Jacob Fleming and Mary (Maria) Voth. She was the fourth youngest of thirteen children (9 boys and 4 girls). Mom enjoyed the farm life growing up and everything that came along with it, gardening, tending to the animals, and helping in the kitchen with cooking and canning. Helen became a Christian at a young age and was baptized as a teen. She married Glen Clifford De Fehr on September 1, 1962. They were blessed with 2 children, a son Barry Allen De Fehr and a daughter, Cynthia Joy Ratzlaff. Glen went to be with the Lord on June 19, 1994. Helen found joy spending time with her children and grandchildren. She enjoyed many hobbies such as cross stitch, calligraphy, making cards and gardening both flowers and vegetables. Whatever she did she put her whole heart into making it amazing. Helen also found much enjoyment in baking and making fantastic meals. Every weekend she would have guests over to enjoy her hard work. She had a huge heart for all those in her life and wanted to spend as much time with them as possible. Mom had many jobs over the years some of which were secretary for the Warden at the women’s prison in Matsqui (Abbotsford), volunteer fire fighter for Matsqui, and secretary at Tucker Insurance. Her final job was Office Manager for Central Heights Church for over 30 years, retiring in 2002. Helen married Mick Falk on May 17, 2002. She was welcomed into his family and extended family and will be missed greatly. As her children we will miss Mom’s laughter, her joy of life, her sweet disposition and her love and unfailing faith in God. We trust in God’s timing and feel blessed that we had this time on earth with her. And as God promised in His word, we will see her again.
