He is survived by his brother Wilfred Reimer and niece Jessica Reimer.
He was predeceased by his parents John Reimer, mother Mary Reimer (nee Warkentin) and brother Norman Reimer (Carol) and sister-in -law Virgille Reimer.
Gary led an interesting life of hard work, perseverance, diligence, sacrifice and good humour. With the family business of Golf Course and Landscape construction he was the main project Lead Hand working closely with lead Architect John Reimer on many local Golf Courses as they were constructed or renovated during the 1970’s on to 1996. Golf Courses that Gary worked on were UBC, Marine Drive in Vancouver, Nico-Wynd in South Surrey, Mylora in Richmond, Green Acres in Richmond, Saint Andrews by-the-Lake in Kaledon, Dragon Lake in Quesnel, and Fraser Glen in Abbotsford to name but a few.
He was expert at irrigation installation, landscape maintenance /construction, and Golf Greenkeeping.
Away from the work on Golf Courses , Gary busied himself my immersing himself in the intricacies of the Magical Arts and was an expert hobbyist. He was a past member of the American Society of Magicians. He never performed in public but rather was more interested in ‘how’ things were done mechanically and practised for hours at a time.
Earlier in life Gary played guitar and was a capable singer and played and sang regularly with brother Norman during the 1970s. Indeed there were many times as teens the 3 Reimer Brothers made a lot of noise as each practised in different rooms of the house at the same time much to the chagrin of Mother who would often shout for us to turn it down!
Gary also had a loyal heart and gave a bone marrow donation for transplant to brother Norman in the early 1990’s. Norman was thus given 6 more years of life due to Gary’s donation.
He is loved and will be missed. Rest in Peace Brother.
