I Elizabeth Krause ( Neufeld) was born on August 13th , 1929 in Sparrau Ukraine. My parents were Henry & Sussana Neufeld. Family had tremendous hardship with Communist rule. My Father was taken away by Russian army in 1937 never to be seen again. My mother was also taken away and myself and my 2 siblings were put in separate orphanages. My mother taught me the Lord’s Prayer and I prayed every night. Finally, months later we got our mother back but no father.
During the war we fled Russia to Poland then Germany. After World War 2 we were refugees with no place to go. My brother had been drafted to the German army and we did not know where he was or even if he was alive. As refugees we made our way to Paraguay as Paraguay agreed to take refugees.
In 1947 through help of our Uncle Abe in Canada we were able to immigrate to Canada. We lived at Uncle Abe’s house in Sumas prairie. The first winter I was allowed to attend Bible school. During that time I accepted Christ as my savior and lord. I was baptized in 1948 on my confession of faith by Rev J.B. Wiens
The next winter I went to Vancouver to work as a maid. I met my future husband Henry Krause in Vancouver. We were married Nov 5th 1950 in Yarrow United Mennonite Church. Following the wedding we moved to Vancouver where I did day work.
In 1951 we purchased and moved to a small farm on Gladwin Rd. In South Abbotsford. We grew Strawberries and chickens. We then built a new Farm on Gladwin Rd close to Huntington Rd. My Son Peter has taken over Farm and it still in operation. This was our pride and joy.
The Lord blessed us with the birth of 5 children. However the second son and two daughters died in early infancy.
We went on many holidays to Hawaii and traveled many places with friends and family Fellowship and Active participation in the life of the church was always special in our life. We were charter members of Eben -Ezer church and helped build church and participated in fellowship and it is various ministries.
Betty was predeceased by her husband Henry Krause, her parents Henry and Susanna Neufeld, her brother Henry Neufeld and 3 infant children.
Betty is survived by Son Peter Krause, Son Harvey (Suzie) Krause, 7 Grand Children: Joanne, Mike, Brittany, Kourtney, Jordan, Spencer, Mitchell, 10 great Grand Children: Kaleb, Belle, Emma, Ella, Ava, Jacob, Bailey, Hazel, Henry, Lewis, and sister Hilda Guenther.
