Doreen was born in Aberdeen, Sask. on December 11, 1941 to Henry and Agnes Wiebe. In her teens she was a capable and willing worker on the family farm. After high school, Doreen attended Bethany Bible Institute where she met her husband Rudy. She completed her teaching certificate at Saskatoon’s teacher’s college and began a career as a dedicated and loving elementary teacher. Rudy and Doreen were married on July 4, 1964 in Saskatoon (SK). Family and friends were of highest importance and their Coquitlam (B.C.) home was a warm and welcoming place filled with great food and much laughter. Doreen was actively involved in church ministries and loved singing in the choir. After retirement in 1999, Rudy and Doreen enjoyed traveling internationally, in their RV and on the motorcycle and volunteering in Hospice and Hospital. Doreen loved her children deeply and adored her grandchildren. During Doreen’s journey with pancreatic cancer that began in March 2010, her strong faith inspired and encouraged many as she experienced God’s healing for over 2 1/2 years. She had confidence and a smile through many difficult moments. On June 24, 2012, Doreen entered the presence of Jesus and her eternal home. She is survived by husband, Rudy, daughter Lynette (Vince) Olfert, son Brent (Jennifer) Raabe, grandchildren Alex, Nate, Tyler, Jadon and Talia, sister Myrtle (Sam) Regier and friends and family all of whom will miss her greatly. A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 10:00 on Saturday, June 30, 2012 at Willingdon Church, Burnaby B.C. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Doreen’s memory at http://donate.bccancerfoundation.com/goto/4doreen.
