I just learned of David's death today or I would have attended the service.  I'm sorry to have missed it.  I remember growing up in Abbotsford with Dave, playing tennis, learning to golf, playing basketball, going to school from elementary through to the end of high school.  I will remember him as a great athlete, with a happy outlook on life, always energenetic and smiling.  He was always laughing.   He will be greatly missed, and my sincere condolences to his family.

My condolences to the entire Holmberg family.

Regretfully, I was unable to attend the Celebration of Life for David.

I thought of him often during his battle and enjoy many memories of his sense of humour and his extroverted personality.

Thank you, Dave Holmberg and family, for such a beautiful and moving tribute to such a wonderful person.  It was a great joy to see and feel Dave Jr.'s presence.  I left the service feeling like I had attended a party not only for Dave but with Dave.  You have shown the depth of your respect and love with this brilliant and touching service. From when he first invited me to join the gaiters on the Saturday long run to chasing him down those steep slopes on the ski hill. He encouraged all of us to try harder and do our best. Wanda, Chris, Maddi we send you our deepest sympathies.  We were lucky enough to meet your Dad as part of the Abbotsford Gaiters Running Club.  Being part of that club with your Dad meant that we had many long runs together on which we learned many things about Dave and his family.  All the Gaiters are a tight knit group who all shared the love of the outdoors, and each others company.  Your Dad was a special part of that group with his jokes, laughter, and big presence.  I have a special memory of watching Dave cross the finish line at the Penticton Ironman with Chris running by his side helping him along the final paces across the finish line, with Wanda and Maddison chasing behind.  I know you all did the same thing for your Dad in these past few months.   He will be missed dearly by many. Take comfort in the fact that your Dad has touched so many people during his short time and know how proud he was of his family as he talked of them often.

 From the first time I meet and befriended Dave in San Francisco at a training seminar. Then later becoming neighbors and friends. His visits to the shop to talk skiing and a beverage and just hanging out. The Bishop's family sends their thoughts to Wanda and family in such a sad, sad time. Your friend Randy (Mad Dog)Bishop

I am an old school chum of Dave's and was very sad to hear of his passing.  We shared home room and walks home after school, crazy antics of teenagers and school sports.  I will remember Dave with much affection, and gratitude for his loyalty and sense of "doing the right thing". Dave was one of those people who made you smile and changed how you think of what's important in your life.

I remember a time when he was given the task of keeping me occupied and way from the house before a surprise birthday party.  He pretended that he got lost in Abbotsford, a city he knew very well.  I was totally convinced and even tried to help Dave find his way.  We all laughed so much about it after, but it was something that I have always remembered because I knew he cared.   

Dave was always so giving and was always there to help a friend.   You truly felt that he was always there supporting you.

Dave touched my life and the lives of many other people.  I am a better person because of his friendship.  This was Dave, a very special and loving person.  He will always be in our thoughts and prayers.
