She is survived by her husband David, son Dale (Shannon), stepdaughter Kim (Ian), and stepson Geoff (Leasha) as well as grandchildren Natasha, Brandon, Tavin, Claire, Kyli, Faith, and Hayleigh and great grandson Cole, Sister Kay Houde and brother Bill Parker (Carol).
Born and raised in New Westminster; she was employed by the Bank of Montreal for 25 years. She was active in her church and the community, in particular with Rotary where she served as President of the Rotary Club of Cloverdale. She was the recipient of the Rotary Paul Harris Fellowship, and in recognition of her achievement and commitment to Canadian Society, she was awarded the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee Medal.
She was very devoted to her family. Together she and Dave travelled to twenty-one countries and several states in the U.S. They enjoyed their frequent visits to the cabin near La Conner and annual trips to Hawaii. A favourite was the family reunion each year at Pillar Lake where Grandma Bev was noted for her pulled pork sandwiches.
She was an avid fan of the B.C. Lions and Abbotsford Heat; she also enjoyed playing golf with friends and family. Bev possessed a lovely smile that could light up a room and everyone who she met was indeed better for that experience.
The family wishes to express their appreciation to the compassionate staff and doctors at Abbotsford Hospital and Cancer Centre for their care during her final days.
A memorial service is scheduled for 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, November 25, 2017 at Saint Matthews at Grace Church (2087 McMillan Rd, Abbotsford).
Reception to follow. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the B.C. Cancer Foundation or the Rotary Foundation Polio fund.
Arrangements under the direction of Henderson's Fraser Valley Funeral Home, Abbotsford, BC.
