Amelia Rorison announce her graduation on October 5, 2018, just short of her 96th birthday.
Beloved wife of 72 years to John Rorison; loving mother to Diane (Bill) Rogers, Joy (Jim) Loosli; devoted
and proud grandmother to Tessa Loosli, Diana (Tim) Loosli), & Jaime (Arless ) Loosli and greatgrandmother
to Dominic, Tanner, Isabel, & Mavis – she will be sorely missed.
She was predeceased by her parents Angelo & Annetta Ge, siblings Antoinetta Ge & Mario Ge, and
great-grand-daughter Amy Sheremeto.
Amelia was born and raised in London, England, weathered the ravages of World War II where she was
known as ‘Mille the Riveter’ as she worked on the production of Halifax Bombers. Then, in 1946, she
married the love of her life, a Canadian soldier, John, on repatriation in London from service in Italy.
After a memorable voyage on the Queen Mary, she landed at the now famous Pier 21 in Halifax, Nova
Scotia and began an unforgettable cross-country train trip with hundreds of war brides, to journey’s end
in Vancouver where was reunited with her husband. In 1949, then again in 1954, they adopted their
daughters. She was a devoted wife and mother, modelling herself after the characteristics enshrined in
Proverbs 31. Her hands were never idle. Her wonderful sense of humour was always ready. She will be
remembered for her encouraging and supportive spirit; her loyalty, dedication, and generosity.
The family wish to thank the Nursing Staff at Tabor Home & Worthington Cottage.
