Edward Alfred Smith passed away on August 19, 2020, at the age of 90, in Barstow California. He was born August 6, 1930 in New Iberia Louisiana to Hilliard and Beatrice Smith. He was raised in Calumet, Louisiana.
He graduated from Franklin Louisiana High School in 1948 and later served 4 years in the United States Air Force during Vietnam.
After returning from overseas, he was discharged in 1954. On June 3, 1954 he married Almeada Molo of Jeanerette Louisiana. He graduated from Philadelphia Wireless Technical Institute in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
He worked for Bendix Field Engineering from 1956 to 1999. He was assigned to the Goldstone Deep Space Tracking Station in Barstow, California from 1966 until retiring in 1999.
He is survived by his wife Almeada, of 66 years, daughters Chandra (Danette), Alfreda, Candis, son Raymond, son-in-law Lamont Jr. Pease, 8 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren and 4 great great grandchildren
His surviving siblings, Hilliard Smith Jr., Shirley May, Mary Louise Smith, Arthur James Smith
He is proceeded in death by his parents, a daughter Patricia, a grandson Dante, a great granddaughter Nevaeh, a great grandson Alize, two sisters and one brother.
Ed was a life Member of the VFW AMVETS and a member if the American Legion.
Ed regularly attending Protestant Church services at the Marine Corps Chapel.
