A true gentleman and a great mentor. Dr. Trieger will always be remembered for his sharp intellect and exquisite ability to gain respect from all. He impacted so many of us in an such a favorable way. I will always be grateful for having been a resident under his leadeship and will remember him fondly for sharing his knowledge in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery. He was a real friend and a wonderful person. Since the first day in Newton when he appeared at our door with Terry bringing a tray full of food and a very needed help, I enjoyed his presence, I enjoyed his ideas, his sense of humor, his sincere need to understand many mysteries that are surrounding us. Uncle Norman was an awesome guy.  I can remember as a young child how he would brush his hair like Bozo the Clown.  It used to crack me up. He will be missed, he died doing what he loved.

I was sad to learn of Norman's unexpected death.  We were interns together many years ago at Montefiore Hospital, where he was an "elder statesman", having decided to do a medical internship to better equip him for oral surgery.  He was unfailingly helpful and cheerful, with a friendly disposition and lively intelligence. Later on, he was unstinting in his help to me and my family in dental matters.  The world will be the poorer for his absence.

Norman was like a second father to me . I attended his montefiore residency 1983 to 1984, there is not a day that I don't think of him. Norman gave me a chance to become a better dentist and a better human being . I enjoyed working on his car (Saab) durring and after I graduated. In 1985 he called me in Florida,( he must have missed my mechanical skills) and told me to return to montefiore and apply for the Orthodontic Residency . He truley was a gem, he was a scholar, a teacher , a Wonderful man and  one of the best Doctors ahead of his time. Norman had a great sence of witt and humor.He loved his family ,kids, grand kids and great grand kids and Israel. We were great friends and spoke frequently.I will miss him dearly.

To the family of Dr. Norman Trieger--my cousin and I had the pleasure this past Wednesday evening, 10 October, of meeting Norm at a special event at Emory University.  We were standing near each other in a crowded, friendly area awaiting dinner and started talking.  It was easy to see this was a classy, accomplished man.  When time came for us to be seated, Norm invited us to sit at the same table which we did and had a delightful evening. My condolences to you during this very sad time.

I saw Mr. Trieger's photo and learned of his passing on CNN.com as part of a larger story about Emory University's apology over discrimination at their dental school in the 60's. How blessed I was to work for and with Dr. Trieger in the mid 1990's. He was a gentleman and a scholar, a visionary and cracker jack story teller. It's not too often that an administrator can say they loved their boss, but I did. He taught me to believe that if you can see it in your mind, you can accomplish it. Rest in peace, Dr. Trieger.
