Ann was born on July 14, 1933 in Charleston, South Carolina, the fourth of five children, to the late Dr. John Sughrue and Barbara (Grice) Sughrue. Ann achieved her Bachelor of Science degree in Biology from College of Charleston in 1955. She met and married her late husband, Gene Spears, while he was in the Navy stationed in Charleston, S.C. that same year. Ann lived most of her life in Windermere, where she was a long-time parishioner of Resurrection Catholic Church in Winter Garden, FL and member of the Windermere Garden Club. Ann enjoyed reading, boating, traveling, and attending and watching FSU football games. She is survived by her son, Charles Spears Jr.; her son John and wife Nancy (Dougherty); her son Paul and wife Alicia (Ulibarri); her daughter Barbara (Spears) and David Hamre; five grandchildren: Alexander, Austin, Hunter, Paige with husband Austin Beltz, and Savannah; and, one great-grandchild, William. She was predeceased by her brother, John Jr.; and, sisters Mary, Barbara, and Jean. The Mass of Christian Burial will take place at Resurrection Catholic Church, Winter Garden. She will be laid to rest in Winter Garden Cemetery immediately following the Mass.
