A modern venue for celebrating life events
Located on 145th Place Southeast, Sunset Hills Funeral Home may be unlike any funeral home you've experienced.
Much like those of a fine hotel, our spaces blend quiet luxury with modern comforts. Spacious, serene and filled with natural light, they include a chapel with seating for 155 guests and a reception room with floor-to-ceiling windows. Two visitation rooms allow for intimate gatherings of family and friends—though we assure your family's privacy by hosting only one event at a time.
The chapel offers flexible seating arrangements—traditional rows or tables and chairs—and a balcony with access to the cemetery. The lobby has comfortable seating areas perfect for quiet moments or conversations with friends. Our beverage bar serves coffee, tea, water, soda, wine and mimosas.
Personalized memorials and life celebrations
We believe that every event should be as unique as the life lived. That's why we work to capture the essence of your loved one to create a service that honors your special person and gives friends and family a chance to come together and remember.
A celebration could include an uncle’s passion for hiking or a grandmother’s perfect pie recipe. A bluebird urn, a pony processional, takeaway putters—we can incorporate almost anything into a tribute to fit the individual.
No matter your wish, from floral arrangements to music selections, decor, catering and more, we guide you through your choices with care. And every family who entrusts us with their loved one’s service can expect an event that includes meaningful music, cherished memories and a heartfelt message.
Cremation in Bellevue
Sunset Hills Funeral Home specializes in cremation services that honor loved ones in personalized ways, and families love our all-inclusive pricing options. With expertise in scattering ashes, a range of cremation jewelry and keepsakes, and the option for an attended cremation, we provide service that is second to none. We offer both traditional flame cremation as well as water cremation.
More and more people are choosing cremation over traditional burial, but most aren’t familiar with all the choices:
- a cremation without a funeral or memorial service of any kind.
- a funeral with your loved one present, followed by cremation.
- a cremation followed by a scattering, cemetery memorialization or celebration of life—or all three.
For those who wish for a more momentous memorial, Neptune Memorial Reef® is an underwater cremation garden off the coast of Florida. A Celestis Memorial Spaceflight takes ashes into space for a little while or forever.
There are many cremation providers from which to choose. Here’s what you can expect when you plan with us:
- Custody of care guaranteed. Our identification pendant and custody-of-care program help safeguard the identification of your loved one.
- Exclusive custody of your loved one. Once your loved one is in the care of a Dignity Memorial® provider or trusted partner, they’re in our care until they’re returned to your family.
- Licensed, certified, conscientious staff. All Dignity Memorial crematory operators in Washington are licensed and certified by the Cremation Association of North America, or CANA. Unless there are special circumstances and your family has requested otherwise, only one person at a time is cremated. Additionally, the cremation chamber is thoroughly cleaned before the next person is cremated.
Human composting
A new choice for nature lovers, conservationists and those who want to protect the planet for future generations, human composting is an alternative to burial and cremation. Inside a vessel created especially for this purpose, organic elements, such as wood chips, mulch and wildflowers, gently transform a body into nutrient-rich soil.
Your family may choose to use this soil to plant trees or flowers, or you can place it in a location meaningful to you. The remaining soil is sent to conservation land on the Olympic Peninsula to aid projects such as reforestation, improving soil health and restoring challenged ecosystems.
Sunset Hills Memorial Park
Sunset Hills Memorial Park is a peaceful place with beautiful views of downtown Seattle and the Olympic Mountains. Mature trees shade the cemetery’s 59 acres on hot summer days and produce magnificent displays of orange, gold and red leaves come fall. The well-landscaped cemetery also features lovely annual blooming flowers, gardens and several water features—all of which make wonderful spots for solitude.
Burial options
Sunset Hills Memorial Park offers a range of interment options for in-ground burial, as well as outdoor mausoleum complexes, columbaria, crypts, cremation niches and benches, private estates and semiprivate estates.
With their pyramid skylights, artistic stained glass and natural stone rock walls, the mausoleums at Sunset Hills Memorial Park are wonders in themselves. However, the glass-front cremation niches make the mausoleums truly special. Unlike traditional granite tombstones that list only a person’s name and dates, these niches are personalized with items such as photographs, jewelry, artwork, perfume bottles, sports memorabilia and more, reflecting the lives they represent.
Memorial Golf Park
To many passionate golfers, paradise is spending the day on a beautiful green. Our newest cemetery development, Memorial Golf Park, memorializes the lives of avid golfers. An acre of greens offers strategically placed cremation benches, memorialization, niche walls and family columbaria with granite golfer figures. Near Memorial Golf Park is a fountain with a natural stone stream that winds its way to a small pond.
Photos convey a lot, but we invite you to see the cemetery for yourself. Please call us to set up a tour or visit anytime on your own.
Veterans funerals and burials
We deeply appreciate those who have sacrificed for our freedoms and feel privileged to honor veterans and their families in need of funeral and cremation services. We can arrange for an honor guard and the playing of Taps. Our experienced funeral directors are dedicated to ensuring that every veteran is honored in a manner befitting their service and giving their families the support they need.
Grief support and aftercare
The loss of a loved one can be devastating, and many people don’t know where to turn or how to cope. We’re here to help you during difficult times—you aren’t alone. Though the experience of grief can be very isolating, the articles in our grief library can make a difference in your day-to-day life, and families who plan services with us get access to our 24-hour Compassion Helpline® (services provided by Charles Nechtem Associates) for up to 13 months after a service.
Funeral and burial planning in advance
In addition to assisting with an immediate need, Sunset Hills Funeral Home & Memorial Park works with families to make final arrangements in advance. When you plan ahead, you relieve your family from financial and emotional burdens while ensuring your wishes are fulfilled. We offer in-person and virtual consultations, as well as a free Personal Planning Guide.

History
Chester “Chet” Green and his wife, Agnes, founded Green Funeral Homes in 1936. Their family operated four locations in Bellevue, Kirkland, Redmond and North Bend, including the cemetery of Sunset Hills Memorial Park. They started in Kirkland and then expanded to Bellevue. Sunset Hills Memorial Park helped fulfill their vision of providing the finest funeral home and best service in the area.
The couple built Sunset Hills on the premise that “every person, no matter what their economic station in life might be, is worthy of the complete and considerate attention and provision of all the personnel, facility and equipment the business has to provide.” A merger in early 2005 consolidated three of the original four funeral homes into a single location at Sunset Hills Memorial Park.
In 2024, an extraordinary new funeral home was built on the cemetery grounds, giving Bellevue-area families a place to honor their loved ones like no other.
