About
Sunland Mortuary & Cremation Center and Sunland Memorial Park understand the pain of losing someone you love. Our compassionate teams are here for you and will help you navigate the process of planning a funeral or cremation and choosing a fitting burial and memorial. Working together, the sister locations allow you to handle all your funeral and burial arrangements.
A peaceful Phoenix-area funeral home
Located off North Del Webb Road, behind St. Clement of Rome Catholic Church and Fountain of Life Lutheran Church, Sunland Mortuary & Cremation Center has no direct frontage or road exposure. This ensures a quiet setting that's convenient to Phoenix but seemingly far away.
With two chapels inside the funeral home, a chapel at the cemetery and places for outdoor gatherings, you'll be able to find just the right space for your service.
Lakeside Chapel seats around 120 guests and features views of the property's 2-acre lake. It has white brick walls and a modern look and feel. Windows on each side of the chapel let natural light stream in.
The much smaller Remembrance Chapel seats up to 12 guests. This intimate space is perfect for families who wish for a simple goodbye.
Personalized funerals and memorials
At Sunland Mortuary & Cremation Center, we pride ourselves on personalized funerals and memorials that truly celebrate you or your loved one. Whether you're seeking a cremation with a champagne toast, a traditional religious funeral service or a creative outdoor celebration, we take care of every detail. We're here to help you and your family celebrate life like no other.
Imagine it: From comic books to cooking, guitars to golf balls, we take the things that mattered to someone and string them together to create a singular, heartfelt memorial. We can find inspiration almost anywhere. Just leave the details—no matter how big or small—to our imaginative team.
We offer many planning ideas and resources.
Sun City cremation services
There are many options for cremation in the Phoenix area—and they're not all equal. We specialize in cremation services that honor loved ones in personalized ways, and families love our all-inclusive pricing. With facilities for outdoor services, expertise in scattering ashes and a friendly team who pays attention to every detail, we provide service that is second to none.
More and more people are choosing cremation over traditional burial, but most aren’t familiar with the many options:
- a cremation without a funeral or memorial service of any kind.
- a funeral with your loved one present, followed by cremation.
- a cremation followed by a scattering, cemetery memorialization or celebration of life—or all three.
If you're interested in cemetery placement, Sunland Memorial Park has many cremation options, including niches and a large cremation garden.
And for those who wish for something more momentous, Neptune Memorial Reef is an underwater cremation garden off the coast of Florida. A Celestis Memorial Spaceflight takes ashes into space for a little while or forever.

Sunland Memorial Park
Occupying close to 45 acres in Sun City, Sunland Memorial Park is a peaceful final resting place. In addition to lush lawns and a 2-acre lake, several varieties of olive, palm, pine, sissoo and oak trees grace the park.
Cremation and burial gardens
Manicured gardens provide a range of burial options. A walk down one of our winding paths reveals in-ground burials, mausoleums, columbaria, aboveground crypts, ossuaries, cremation niches and benches, private and semiprivate estates and cremation scattering gardens.
Of 11 distinct gardens at Sunland Memorial Park, several are dedicated to specific religions or cultures. Prayer II is resting place for both Conservative and Reform members of Jewish congregations. A geniza in this section provides for the proper disposal of religious artifacts and texts. The Garden of Valor is dedicated to veterans.
One of our more exclusive sections is located by the lake. It includes lawn crypts, cremation gardens, private and semiprivate estates, and three mausoleums. Each spring, Indian hawthorn and jacarandas produce vibrant, fragrant blossoms, adding seasonal beauty to this area.
Chapel of Peace
Located in the cemetery's Mausoleum of Peace, Chapel of Peace seats up to 300 guests and is a traditional space for holding committal services. On a wall of the Mausoleum of Peace, which sits on the cemetery's east side, you'll find one of the larger mosaic art pieces in the United States. Its intricate tile work depicts soaring doves as a symbol of freedom.
All are welcome here
Though we are located in the heart of Sun City, a retirement community popular with snowbirds, there is no age or residency requirement to be buried here. Photos convey a lot, but we invite you to come see Sunland Memorial Park for yourself. You are welcome to visit the cemetery anytime or call us to schedule a guided tour.

Sunland Pet Rest Cemetery
For many of us, pets are part of the family. We believe in giving companion animals the memorials they deserve. As a whole-family cemetery, Sunland Memorial Park has dedicated a 2-acre garden to furred and feathered friends. Called Sunland Pet Rest Cemetery, it provides a place to memorialize the lives of loyal companions. Whether you choose a traditional burial or cremation burial for your beloved animal, you can trust that we will show the same care and compassion as we give to every life we honor.
For pets who are still part of our lives, we host a pet blessing as well as pet photos during the year.
We Honor Veterans
We understand the unique needs of America’s veterans and their families. As a Level Four Founding Community Partner with We Honor Veterans, our staff is knowledgeable about veterans burial benefits. With respect, integrity and dignity, we will walk you through creating a veteran's memorial service that truly honors the life and sacrifice of your loved one.
We also participate in the Homeless Veterans Burial Program founded in conjunction with the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs, the Veterans of Foreign Wars, local medical examiners, coroners, veterans advocates and veterans organizations on the belief that every veteran deserves a dignified and honorable burial. Through the program, homeless and indigent veterans who have no family to claim them are identified and provided with proper military burials.

Honoring public servants
Sunland Mortuary & Cremation Center and Sunland Memorial Park support those who dedicate their careers to safeguarding Phoenix and surrounding areas. The Public Servants Program recognizes the courage and selflessness of career and volunteer law enforcement officers, firefighters and emergency services personnel.
Through the program we offer dignified and honorable tributes, at no cost, for those who fall in the line of duty. In addition, the program offers counseling services to family members, as well as the opportunity to create an internet tribute as a loving memorial.
Caring for families together
Each year thousands of people choose to donate the gift of organs, eyes and tissues to save and heal others. We understand this is not always an easy decision, and we are here to help you navigate the process. Because of our commitment to donation and partnership with Donate Life America and Donor Network of Arizona we are uniquely qualified to celebrate the gift of life. Ask us how we can create a meaningful memorial that honors your loved one’s gift.
Community events
Sunland Mortuary & Cremation Center and Sunland Memorial Park invite all families in the Phoenix area to join us for our special events.
A Memorial Day service honors those who gave their lives in service to our country. Members from the Northwest Valley Veterans Association, the Veterans of Foreign Wars and the American Legion help us host this popular event, typically attended by more than 500 people. Attendees are treated to a picnic lunch, live brass band and flyovers by the Falcon Warbirds. More than 1,500 American flags are placed on the graves of service members prior to service, thanks to local Boy Scouts troops.
No matter your religion, culture or belief, we know the December holidays can be a particularly emotional time for families who have lost loved ones. During our nondenominational Night of Remembrance, we celebrate the lives of those lost throughout the year. Guests enjoy sweet treats and seasonal music, and hang ornaments with the names and photos of loved ones on our tree and light candles in their honor. Community leaders from many religious doctrines join to provide their support.
The funeral home and cemetery teams are involved in many local and national organizations, such as the Northwest Valley Veterans Association, Sun City Rotary and American Diabetes Association.
We also extend an open invitation to anyone grieving the loss of a loved one to our grief support group. The group meets weekly and has been recognized for its effort to combat suicide among the elderly following loss.
