A modern Greenville funeral home
Renovated in 2013, our spacious funeral home features a modern, designer-decorated interior that makes you feel right at home. From the 300-seat chapel to our more intimate family rooms, arrangement offices, visitation rooms and courtyard fountain, Mackey Funerals and Cremations at Century Drive has several spaces for visiting with loved ones before or after memorial services.
Filled with natural light during the day, the chapel has beautiful wood pews and stained-glass windows at the front and on both sides of the aisles. New audiovisual equipment provides everything you need to for a multimedia tribute (which we can help you create, by the way). These amenities come together in a comfortable and inviting atmosphere for families and guests.
Our community room is a space for families to gather before, during or after a memorial or funeral service and is ideal for catered receptions. We work with licensed, professional caterers to plan all types of receptions, from simple cake and coffee or wine and cheese to a buffet lunch to a sit-down dinner with waiter service.
Cremation services
We specialize in cremation services that honor loved ones in personalized ways, and families love our transparent pricing. With expertise in scattering ashes and a friendly team who pays attention to every detail, we provide service that is second to none.
More and more people are choosing cremation over traditional burial, but most aren’t familiar with the many options:
- a cremation without a funeral or memorial service of any kind.
- a funeral with your loved one present, followed by cremation.
- a cremation followed by a scattering, cemetery memorialization or celebration of life—or all three.
For those who wish for a more momentous memorial, Neptune Memorial Reef is an underwater cremation garden off the coast of Florida. A Celestis Memorial Spaceflight takes ashes into space for a little while or forever.
There are many options for cremation—and they're not all equal. Here's what you can expect when you choose us for your loved one's cremation:
- Custody of care guaranteed. Our custody-of-care program helps safeguard the identification of your loved one from the time we bring them into our care until the time we return them to your family. We check, cross-check and check again, every step of the way.
- Exclusive custody of your loved one. We use only crematories owned and operated by Dignity Memorial® providers or trusted partners. Once your loved one is in our custody or that of a trusted partner, they’re in our care until they’re returned to your family.
- Licensed, certified, conscientious staff. All Dignity Memorial crematory operators are licensed and certified by Cremation Association of North America, or CANA. Only one person at a time is cremated, and the cremation chamber is thoroughly cleaned before the next person is cremated.

Let's celebrate life
Every life deserves to be celebrated in a unique way. The dedicated funeral directors at Mackey Funerals and Cremations at Century Drive take the time to learn everything they can about your loved one to create a one-of-a-kind tribute that celebrates their passions in meaningful and memorable way.
A celebration could include grandpa's passion for golfing or mother's time-perfected strawberry pie recipe. From hiking to homebrewing, sewing to skydiving, there’s very little limit to the ways we can make a tribute special. And, of course, if you prefer a more traditional or religious service, we can do that too. We are committed to meeting your needs and expectations.

Honoring veterans and public servants
As a Level Two Founding Community Partner with We Honor Veterans, Mackey Funerals and Cremations at Century Drive specializes in military veterans funerals, including funerals for homeless veterans. Through the Dignity Memorial Homeless Veterans Burial Program, a cooperative effort with the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs, the Veterans of Foreign Wars, local medical examiners, coroners, veterans’ advocates and veterans’ organizations, we provide free funeral services to homeless and indigent veterans.
We also participate in the Dignity Memorial Public Servants Program, which provides no-cost funeral services to career and volunteer law enforcement officers, firefighters and emergency services personnel who fall in the line of duty. In addition, the program offers extended counseling services to family members, as well as the opportunity to create an internet tribute as a loving memorial.
We care for the people of Greenville
Our involvement in the Greenville community doesn't end when the funeral is over. We offer anyone who is grieving access to our grief support services. We host seminars and support groups both on and off site, and our grief support library is available to all who need it.
Additionally, many of our team members participate in civic and service organizations: the Lions Club, Kiwanis Club, Sertoma and Rotary. Each year we contribute to various nonprofits such as the Alzheimer's Association, March of Dimes, YMCA, Greenville Symphony, Community Foundation, Greenville Health System’s Children's Hospital and The American Legion. Mackey Funerals and Cremations at Century Drive is also proud to sponsor the Widowed Persons Organization in Greenville.
History
Mackey Funerals and Cremations at Century Drive was established in 1872 and located for many years on East Washington Street. In 1926, James F. Mackey and Sons constructed a new home for its funeral business in the 300 block of North Main Street.
In 1969, the funeral home moved to its current location off Highway 385. In 2013, it underwent an interior renovation, adding a community room for events and catered receptions.
Today, the funeral home is a member of the Dignity Memorial® network of funeral, cremation and cemetery service providers. Throughout our century-plus-long history, we have remained committed to delivering the highest level of care and compassion to the Greenville community.
