About
Located in Scarborough, Ontario, Paul O’Connor Funeral Home has provided dignified, meaningful funeral services since 1967. Serving Toronto and the surrounding area, we believe that a funeral or memorial not only honours the memory of a loved one, but that it's also a special time for family and friends to gather. We are experts in planning all types of memorial and cremation services—from traditional funerals to more nontraditional celebrations. We believe that every life is unique and deserves to be remembered in a special way.
Your dedicated Scarborough funeral home
In a beautifully contemporary building on Lawrence Ave. E., between Pharmacy and Warden avenues, in Scarborough, Paul O’Connor Funeral Home has a comforting atmosphere and uncluttered spaces in light colors accented with polished blond wood. The funeral home is wheelchair accessible. It has plenty of parking as well as a covered portico, so guests can stay dry in rainy weather.
With five visitation rooms, we bring friends and family together before services to share and remember. We also arrange for in-home visitations, if that's your family's preference. Our comfortable chapel seats up to 145 guests. It has an up-to-date audiovisual system for music and personalized slideshows and videos—and we are happy to arrange for live music. Adjacent to the chapel is an adjoining climate-controlled family room, which allows for privacy during the ceremony.
If your family wishes for a police escort from the funeral home to a nearby cemetery, we can arrange that as well.
Personalized funeral services
At Paul O’Conner Funeral Home, we understand that losing a loved one is an emotional and difficult experience. We're committed to providing personal, compassionate and professional service when it's needed most. Part of that commitment is a pet-friendly environment.
When you first meet with a funeral director or certified celebrant, we'll ask questions about your loved one: what he liked to do, what she cherished, how he thought about the world, how she liked to spend time. From there, we'll help you create a service that speaks to the unique life of your loved one, whether that's a traditional religious funeral or a contemporary and upbeat celebration of life.
You can provide inspiration with a memory of your loved one. From scrapbooking to snow skiing, guitars to golf balls, prize-winning roses to prize-winning roadsters, we take the things that mattered to that special person and weave them together to create a singular, heartfelt memorial. We're here to help tell the special story of your loved one's life—or your own, if you are planning in advance.
Our team is experienced in arranging catered events. Whether it's a breakfast buffet after a morning service, cake and coffee in the afternoon, or a full dinner reception, just let us know what you have in mind. We'll handle food, drink, decor and more. We'll also help you write an obituary, create a tribute video for the service and assist you in choosing music.
Cremation options
Not everyone knows that there are many cremation options. If you are interested in cremation, we can explain the process and the different memorial and burial choices. From a direct cremation without a service or witness, to a full funeral service before or after the cremation, we'll help you understand this increasingly common decision.
A loved one's urn or ashes may be picked up at the funeral home, or we can deliver them to your home by mail. We also offer cremation jewelry, which is a special way to keep the memory of a loved one close.
Planning ahead
In addition to assisting during your time of need, our team specializes in helping families and individuals plan final arrangements in advance. By preparing these details ahead of time, you provide a sense of relief and comfort to your loved ones while ensuring your personal wishes are known. We can provide information or answer questions about pre-planning your funeral, cremation and cemetery arrangements.
As part of the Dignity Memorial® network, we offer a selection of unmatched services. They include the following and much more:
