Chapels and reception spaces

Robert Toale and Sons Funeral Home at Palms Memorial Park houses 3 chapels on property, accommodating the specific needs of each family we serve. The Legacy Room, located in our funeral home's main building, offers an aesthetic that can be custom-tailored for a personalized funeral or celebration of life service. It also features a reception room, which can be set up for a variety of catered events. The Chapel of Palms, located in the mausoleum building on the south part of the cemetery, evokes a more traditional service appeal for both formal and committal services. Finally, our Committal Chapel, situated in the mausoleum at our cemetery's center, provides a space for indoor final services when the weather is inclement.

Cremations

Not everyone knows that there are many cremation options. If you are interested in cremation, our funeral home team expertly explains the process and different options. From a direct cremation without a memorial service or a witness cremation to a full funeral service before or after the cremation and more, we help you understand this increasingly common choice—and handle all of the cremation arrangements.

Palms Memorial Park cemetery

Established in 1962, Palms Memorial Park sits on more than 50 acres. The Sarasota cemetery offers traditional in-ground burial, above-ground mausoleum entombment and a cremation garden with columbaria as well as private family estates. Our mission is to provide a beautiful final resting place that suits your family tradition and personal desire.

A park-like property and inspiring gardens

Palms Memorial Park is among the larger cemeteries in the Sarasota area and is mostly restricted to flush markers. Our signature garden, Garden of Reflections, includes a spectacular waterscape designed with rocks and boulders from around the country. The sound of flowing water can be heard throughout the garden, which offers cremation benches and private family estates.

Palms Memorial Park also has 2 veterans gardens, a Masonic garden, 4 sections dedicated to area temples and a section reserved for members of the Apostolic Christian Church.

History

Palms Memorial Park opened in 1962 and has served the people of Sarasota for nearly 60 years. Originally a cemetery for "snowbirds,” people who came to Sarasota from colder parts of the country during the winter and returned home during the summer, it grew to serve even the permanent residents over the years.

In 1996, a funeral home opened at Palms Memorial Park, providing a convenient place to make funeral and cremation arrangements.

Robarts Funeral Home, a renowned name in the funeral business, joined Palms Funeral Home & Palms Memorial Park in 2005. At this time, the names changed to Palms-Robarts Funeral Home & Palms-Robarts Memorial Park. Today, serving the community as Robert Toale and Sons Funeral Home at Palms Memorial Park, both the funeral home and cemetery are members of the Dignity Memorial^® network of funeral, cremation and cemetery service providers.

Community events and involvement

The teams at Robert Toale and Sons Funeral Home at Palms Memorial Park are very active in community events. In addition to our activities conducted from our location, we volunteer hundreds of hours helping in the community. 

Each year, the location’s employees volunteer with many large associations and programs, including the Heart Association, the Lung Association, the Alzheimer's Association, Breast Cancer Walkathons, Safe and Secure Seniors, Kids Safety at School, Habitat For Humanity, Tidwell Hospice, Jewish Federation, National Association of Palliative Care’s “We Honor Veterans” Program, various Catholic charities, various Masonic and Shriner events, and Turning Points For The Homeless.

Our teams also work with veterans service organizations such as the VFW, DAV and the American Legion, providing seminars, services and information related to veterans affairs. Finally, our teams work with assisted living communities, such as Brookdale Senior Living. We help educate both residents and staff on grief and memorial service related topics.
