Personalized services can include distinctive music, displays of photographs and memorabilia, military honors, unique processionals, and dove or balloon releases. McDonald's Chapel can also provide catering services as well as create beautiful floral arrangements.

Redding Memorial Park

Situated on 30 sprawling acres, Redding Memorial Park provides a beautiful and quiet place to honor the memory of your loved ones. Our park features a scenic view of the Sacramento River and a meandering path for quiet reflection.

To honor and remember those entrusted to our care, our memorialization selection includes commemorative benches, boulders, upright monuments and flush-to-the-ground memorials. We also offer a variety of committal choices.

A cremation garden, mausoleum niche, cenotaph, ossuary and ground burial are some of our options for those selecting cremation, while casketed committal options include family estates, exterior or interior mausoleums and traditional ground burial. As part of our commitment to the needs of our community, we offer a garden wholly dedicated to veterans.

History

McDonald's Chapel was founded in the 1890s, and both the chapel and Redding Memorial Park have been an important part of the Redding California community for more than 100 years.

Redding Mortuary and Funeral Home opened on June 17, 1928. In recognition of director Theodore McDonald and assistant director L. Stanford Scott, the name of the funeral home was changed to McDonald & Scott. It was located on the corner of Shasta and Pine streets, where it remained for 38 years. In 1938, McDonald & Scott became McDonald's Chapel.

In 1948, Rudy V. Balma joined the staff and was named manager in 1955 when Mr. McDonald retired. At that time, Mr. Balma purchased the funeral home. In 1959, a new wing was added to house a new chapel and to provide more complete service to those in need. In 1965, construction began on a new location of McDonald's Chapel. Mr. Balma retired in 1986, and our current team is proud to continue his tradition of service.

Although the location has changed, the staff has always remained committed to McDonald's Chapel and Redding Memorial Park’s professional standards and dedication to the Redding community.
