About

H.P. Brandt Funeral Home provides the North Hills with a wide range of funeral service options. We’re proud to carry on a tradition of excellence and outstanding service that began with our first funeral in 1902.

Located in the northern suburbs of Pittsburgh, we serve families in Perrysville, Ross, McCandless, West View, Allison Park, Wexford, Gibsonia, Pine, Franklin Park and other local communities. From a simple cremation to a traditional funeral service to fully customized celebrations of life, we're here to help you plan. No matter your family's religion, culture or traditions, we make a hard time a little easier.

In addition, we have close relationships with many cemeteries in the Pittsburgh area and can help coordinate burial services, if you'd like us to do that.

A large Perrysville funeral home

Chapel at H.P. Brandt Funeral HomeH.P. Brandt Funeral Home has a welcoming and comforting atmosphere. The funeral home is one of the larger in the North Hills area, and we can accommodate services of any size. Our light and spacious chapel seats 100 guests; we have overflow seating if needed.

A private cry room offers a place for meditation or a quiet moment of reflection. Clergy often use this space to prepare their remarks before a memorial service.

To ensure that physically challenged seniors and others can move easily about the funeral home, the whole building is wheelchair accessible, including the elevator.

Personalized funerals and memorials

Lobby at H.P. Brandt Funeral HomeWe take pride in service excellence and personalized services that truly reflect family traditions, religious customs and personal preferences. Our compassionate funeral directors listen to your every need, take the time to get to know your loved one and help create a fitting tribute.

Was he a biker? We can display his prized motorcycle. Was she a gardener? We can send guests home with seedlings for their own yard. If she liked to dance or he liked to cook, if she traveled the world or was happiest at home, we'll consider the details and create a celebration to remember.

History

Lobby at H.P. Brandt Funeral HomeH.P. Brandt Funeral Home opened in 1902. For more than 110 years, we have provided dignified and affordable funeral services to the North Hills community.

Our beginnings

Unique feature at H.P. Brandt Funeral HomeHerman P. Brandt purchased the business—which was merely a horse and buggy—from Messrs, Rape and Zener, who also ran a furniture store. That furniture store became Hieber’s General Store, which stood as a Perrysville landmark for many years before becoming the location of Perrytowne Drafthouse.

In 1902, Herman bought the land and physical building for his funeral home from Dr. Lindley, for whom Lindley Lane was named. The funeral home operated in its original location for 35 years.

Our proprietor becomes a state senator

In June 1907, Herman married Allie Heid. They had six children. Herman had a growing interest in serving the public good, and a couple of decades later, he became a state senator representing Pennsylvania's 40th Senatorial District. He served from 1928 to 1932. He also served as justice of the peace for McCandless Township for 18 years.

We relocate to Perry Highway

After years studying and visiting other successful funeral homes in the Tri-State area, Herman recognized the need to expand his funeral business to meet the needs of the growing community. After helping get Perry Highway built, he began construction on a new funeral home in July 1936. It opened in March 1937 at 1032 Perry Highway, where H.P. Brandt Funeral Home still operates today.

Though we've been around for well over a century, we're always improving our facilities and services. As a member of the Dignity Memorial® family, we offer benefits you won't find anywhere else.
