Beautifully landscaped cemetery grounds

Front Exterior Building at Susquehanna Memorial GardensRolling green lawns, thoughtfully landscaped with mature trees, evergreen shrubs, colorful flowers and a pond, offer visitors a peaceful, parklike atmosphere. Carrara marble statues sculpted in Italy beautify all our gardens.

A wide range or burial and cremation choices

With community and private options for traditional ground burial, aboveground burial and cremation, our picturesque cemetery gives families choices that suit their preferences and budgets.

Columbarium niches, private columbaria and granite benches provide lasting tributes to those who choose cremation. Lawn crypts and Yorktowne Chapel Mausoleum offer aboveground entombment. Private mausoleums and family estates allow families who wish to plan for generations to create a highly customized legacy.

Military burials

Noah's Garden of Pets entrance at Susquehanna Memorial GardensWe deeply appreciate those who have sacrificed for our freedoms and specialize in serving veterans and their loved ones. Our experienced team can coordinate a military burial ceremony and help ensure a veteran receives the benefits he or she is entitled to. Veterans and their immediate family members who choose Susquehanna Memorial Gardens may be memorialized in the Military Garden of Honor.

A final resting place for beloved pets

We know pets can be important members of the family. Wishing to give families with beloved companion animals an option for saying goodbye with the utmost dignity and respect, Susquehanna Memorial Gardens has a special section dedicated to furry and feathered friends. Called Noah’s Garden of Pets, it allows for both casketed and urn burial of pets.

History

Susquehanna Memorial Gardens was dedicated in May of 1958. The original owners were Fred Hill, Wentworth Vedder, Elmer Morris and John Regan. All are buried at the cemetery. Fred was laid to rest in the Hill private mausoleum, located at the entrance of the cemetery.

Our historic inn turned office

Ye Olde Valley Inn was built in 1740. It was the first inn built west of the Susquehanna River and played an important role in the Underground Railroad as a shelter for runaway slaves. In 1962, slated for destruction, it was instead dismantled and restored at Susquehanna Memorial Gardens. Today, it houses the cemetery office.

Cemetery growth and expansion

In 1996, Susquehanna Memorial Gardens became a Dignity Memorial provider and the development of the cemetery continued. Since that time, we've unveiled two lawn crypt sections and four columbaria. Most recently, we opened the first phase of the Grandview Estate and Cremation Garden. It's a beautiful area for cremation memorialization, nestled in a part of the cemetery with expansive country views and well designed with a variety of options.

Spanning 180 acres, including more than 100 that are still undeveloped, Susquehanna Memorial Gardens will be able to serve Southcentral Pennsylvania families for generations to come.
