History

The roots of Bill Eisenhour Funeral Home At Sunny Lane Cemetery in Del City run as deep as the roots of the State of Oklahoma. Less than one week after the land run in 1889, John George donated an acre of his homestead to build a church and Jack Moore donated an acre adjacent to the north from his homestead to build a cemetery. From these humble beginnings, Sunny Lane Church and Cemetery became one of the first churches established in Oklahoma.

In 1918 both the church and cemetery were purchased by Frank Trosper with the intent of preserving these significant pieces of history. A brick veneer was constructed around the original church. Shortly after, in 1924, Sunny Lane Cemetery was formally established. Though the original cemetery may still be viewed today, unfortunately, all that remains of the original church is its foundation.

Sunny Lane Funeral HomeToday, Bill Eisenhour Funeral Home At Sunny Lane Cemetery still honors the traditions of our past while embracing the potential of our future. The new Community Reception Center provides a facility for families to congregate for celebrations, as well as a respite where families visit following services. As a part of our dedication to our community, the center is also made available to a variety of non-profit community events.
