History

Byron and Myron Zechar founded Zechar Funeral Home in 1941, establishing a provider of funeral services in Greenville, Ohio. In 1960, the Zechar family acquired McKnight & Baker Funeral Home. Byron’s 2 sons, Kent and Gray, continued their family’s tradition of funeral service by taking over operations in 1979.

In 1979, Joe Bailey became owner and operator of the funeral home in Versailles, and 6 years later, Kent, Gray and Joe merged the 2 funeral homes to become Bailey Zechar Funeral Home.

In the mid-1990s, they bought Miller Funeral Home, providing area families with more options for funeral services in Darke County.

Today, Bailey Zechar Funeral Home is a member of the Dignity Memorial® network of funeral, cremation and cemetery service providers. Our locally based team offers compassion and hospitality in the Ohio tradition.
