About

Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens provides a highly personalized restful landscape for families seeking a well-appointed cemetery in Columbus, Ohio.

Distinctive options to meet your needs

Private/semi-private estates at Forest Lawn Memorial GardensEach of our 15 gardens is organized with a unique theme, ranging from religious to patriotic. Our Garden of Praying Hands, Gethsemane, Calvary and Good Shepherd are some of the many honoring those of the Christian faith. We also feature the Masonic Garden, the Oaks of Forest Lawn, the Veterans Garden and the Temple Garden, honoring the Jewish heritage.

Honoring our veterans

Front Entrance at Forest Lawn Memorial GardensFreedom Square Monument, located in our Veterans Garden, honors all veterans who served our country, including more than 20 Medal of Honor recipients in Franklin County. Special military funeral options include a laser-etched portrait permanently displayed on one of 5 American Heroes black granite walls at the monument—a site where family and friends may gather to honor the memory of those who gave so much.

Monuments, estates and interment

Private/semi-private estates at Forest Lawn Memorial GardensOaks of Forest Lawn is our first upright monument section, created in May 2016. Hedge Estates houses beautifully established family estates so generations may enjoy a central place to pay respects. For those who choose cremation, we've made some recent changes to accommodate a variety of needs. Serenity Garden is a cremation scattering garden. It is well manicured and overlooks a water feature where duck families often play. It also has stone benches so visitors can enjoy sitting in the garden. Cremated remains may be buried in the new Ossuary Garden.

Uncompromising service

We are dedicated to compassionate support during a challenging time to better preserve memories for future generations. Our goal is to exceed expectations before, during and after each service.

The Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens team earned the prestigious Award of Excellence from J.D. Power and Associates from 2006 until 2015, and retains this award-winning spirit to this day. In 2016, Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens earned the J.D. Power & Associates "President's Award".

Visit our cemetery

Cemetery grounds at Forest Lawn Memorial GardensQuality, value and attention to detail are our promises to you. Visit us in person to tour our well-manicured grounds, or give us a call if we may guide you through each option available to you.

Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens is a favorite spot for Canadian geese, protected under both the Federal Migratory Bird Treaty Act and Ohio State law. This protection extends to the geese, gosling, nests and eggs. While we make every attempt to clean up any mess associated with their visits, we are unable to prevent it, and we appreciate your understanding as we host these protected birds.

History

Forest Lawn Memorial GardensThe Miller and Morrison families founded Forest Lawn Memorial Park in 1928. Now called Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens, our cemetery covers approximately 100 acres and contains nearly 28,000 burials. The grounds include several garden mausoleums, private mausoleums, private estates and cremation estates of families with deep roots in central Ohio.

I was not happy to be asked to come back in a few days following the service simply to be given a booklet of rules. I could have received the booklet at the meeting before the service and saved myself a special trip. That was very inconvenient and unnecessary.
