About
Carothers Funeral Home in Dallas, North Carolina, has been serving the Gaston County community since 1928. For over 80 years, our commitment has remained unchanged while our funeral home services always respond to the changing needs of our community.
Create special tributes
Our experienced and dedicated funeral directors and support staff provide compassionate care to families at a difficult time in their lives. We believe that funerals and memorials should reflect the lives of those being honored, and we do our utmost to create meaningful tributes to those who have meant so much to family and friends.
As the needs and desires of people have changed, so have our services. You now have opportunities to create memorable events that encourage sharing, fellowship and storytelling. In addition to traditional funerals, you can now have customized Celebration of Life® ceremonies that encompass the essence of the individual through photographs, videos, mementos and menus designed specifically with that special person in mind.
At Carothers Funeral Home, you have the option to create a lively celebration or traditional funeral service, ensuring your wishes are honored during this stage of life. We also have certified celebrants available to assist families in creating one-of-a-kind tributes that showcase life.
Planning a service ahead
Our funeral home also offers the option of planning ahead for funeral services designed to relieve the emotional and financial burdens at a family’s emotionally difficult time. Our complimentary personal planning guide is an ideal place to start gathering information and recording vital information.
Arrangements can be made all at once or in increments to help with your financial needs and cost concerns. Regardless of your family’s financial situation, our team can create a fitting and dignified service that truly reflects your individuality.
Community events and veteran funerals
Every year, Memorial Day and Christmas are commemorated and celebrated with services that help the community remember, honor and heal at our funeral home. We also love showing our support for public servants and military members.
Our community's public servants are honored annually at the Hero’s Luncheon we hold in September. Our Public Servant Program provides complimentary memorial services to members of the police, fire and emergency services who have died in the line of duty.
Homeless veterans who have been honorably discharged can be buried with full military honors at the national cemetery through the Dignity Memorial® Homeless Veteran Burial Program. We also participate in Step Out Walk Against Diabetes every year.
We welcome opportunities to help out our neighbors and we're active members of civic clubs, churches and community groups across the county.

History
Carothers Funeral Home has served the Dallas community with their funeral and memorial services for over 80 years. Our dedication to exceptional service has enabled us to build strong relationships with families in Gaston County, North Carolina.
Original location
Carothers Funeral Home was established in 1928 by Ervin S. Carothers on Page Street in Gastonia. Several years later, C.T. Settlemeyer purchased a portion of the funeral business, creating Carothers and Settlemeyer Funeral Home, which later moved into the former T.W. Wilson home on Franklin Avenue.
Tailored funeral and memorial services
The funeral home was later sold to the brothers of Ervin Carothers: J. C. Carothers Sr. and E. Woodrow Carothers Sr. The brothers expanded Carothers Funeral Home to Belmont, Mt. Holly and Stanley.
In 1954, Carothers was the 1st to construct a new building that was designed specifically as a funeral home. The new funeral home was located at 312 West 2nd Ave., where it remained until 2014.
Former ambulance services
Carothers Funeral Home has been taking care of the community since the very beginning. As was common with funeral homes of the period, Carothers Funeral Home operated a large fleet of ambulances to serve communities in Gaston County. The ambulance service continued until 1974 when modern emergency medical services came into being.
Also in 1974, Dallas Funeral Home was purchased from Blair Falls Houser, and in 1985, Carothers-Williams Corporation was formed, which added Gaston Memorial Park and Hillcrest Gardens to the family.
Our legacy continues
Today, we're proud to offer a full-service funeral home for your burial and cremation needs. Through our services, we help families honor their loved ones and receive support from family and friends in a comfortable environment.
