Traditional or modern celebrations

Premium reception venue at Wood Funeral Home The caring funeral professionals at Wood Funeral Home guide you through the process of honoring your loved one in a unique and personal way. As a modern funeral provider, we are prepared to assist you with everything from writing an obituary to creating a multimedia tribute.

Whether you choose a cremation with a scattering attended by only very close friends and family; a full traditional funeral with hundreds of guests; or an elaborate celebration with live music and fitting mementos, our team can handle every detail.

We want every final goodbye to be a reflection of a life, which could mean anything from a movie-themed processional to a piano concerto, from a luau to a lantern release. We take the time to find out what mattered to your loved one and help you plan a memorial that brings reality to your vision.

History

Visitation room at Wood Funeral HomeIn December 1947, Clayton H. Wood purchased Louis Mead's funeral home at 48 Paine Street in East Aurora. Clayton moved the business to the historic Stockwell house at 784 Main Street in June 1950. Over the next several years, he added on to the original structure in order to accommodate a growing clientele.

In November 1960, Clayton's son, Thomas E. Wood, joined his father as a licensed funeral director. In June 1976, Wood Funeral Home was incorporated to include Clayton; his wife, Evelyn; and Thomas as officers.

When Clayton died in 1978, Thomas became the owner and manager of Wood Funeral Home. Thomas married Elizabeth Kennedy in 1981. Elizabeth became part owner and began assisting her husband in the business. They remodeled from 1995 to 1996, doubling the public spaces in the funeral home and making the building fully accessible for those with physical limitations.

Today, Wood Funeral Home is a member of the Dignity Memorial network, the largest group of funeral, cremation and cemetery service providers in North America.
