Our spacious Auburn funeral home has earned an excellent reputation for its convenience and comforting environment. The Fortin Group houses visitation rooms for more intimate gatherings as well as a large area that accommodates families who require more space. A recent renovation also added a catering room and a staging kitchen for our caterers. These amenities provide families with plenty of space for receptions and spending time with family and friends.

History

The Fortin Group manages funeral homes in both Auburn and Lewiston, known locally as the Twin Cities in Maine. For decades, our caring staff has provided thoughtful funeral and cremation services with a personal touch.

Our service begins

In the early 1900s, families began the transition from having undertaking services and embalming take place in the family home to utilizing funeral homes for these services. In 1925, Reginald Fortin became an owner at Poisson and Fortin Funeral Home on Park Street in Lewiston. When Fortin Sr. died, his sons, Donat and Roland G., established their funeral home at our current location: 70 Horton Street in Lewiston.

A family tradition of care

In 1975, Roland G. Fortin sold his interest to existing shareholders Raymond Duprez, Denis Croteau and Roger Bouffard. In 1985, Raymond A. Perreault also became a shareholder in Fortin Funeral Directors. See MoreSee Less

Nearly 20 years later, Fortin Funeral Directors merged with Plummer & Merrill & Teague Funeral Homes in 1992. They changed the business name to The Fortin Group of Lewiston and Auburn, offering a choice of locations for our families in both cities. Since 1996, our Auburn and Lewiston funeral homes have been members of the Dignity Memorial® network of funeral, cremation and cemetery service providers.

This partnership has enabled us to offer more service options to our families with the ability to customize each one to meet the needs of our community.
