Timeless and traditional Louisville funeral home

Our elegant funeral home was built in 1991. From the moment you walk in, you are welcomed here.

Timeless decor, including calming and cool colors, tall ceilings and Southern flare, surround you. A large fountain with bench seating in front of the funeral home provides an outdoor space to sit and reflect.

With pew seating for 150 guests, high ceilings and a large altar, our chapel is very traditional. We have a beautiful, large lobby directly outside the chapel, which is often used by families for serving refreshments, providing additional seating or displaying personal mementos.

We have 3 visitation rooms: Farmington, Breckinridge and Heritage. All of these spaces are similar in size, offering a warm environment, nice lighting and updated technology for family videos, music or slideshows. All 3 rooms comfortably accommodate 50-60 people and have direct access to a family lounge/coffee area.

The Celebration Room

The Celebration Room is a newly renovated space for memorial services, visitations or catered receptions. This room features warmer tones, photos of Louisville attractions and an updated sound system.

It also has a 55-inch television for picture and video slideshows. For those interested in hosting an event with cocktails, we can arrange for a bartender to serve your guests at the large wooden bar. We also have full catering capabilities. We are glad to coordinate anything from a breakfast buffet to a complete sit-down dinner.

Personalized funeral services

All of our services are designed to help you through one of the more personal and challenging stages of life. We understand that losing a loved one is an emotional and difficult experience, and we are committed to providing compassionate, professional and personal care.

Over the years, we have designed some very touching celebration of life ceremonies. For instance, when coordinating the funeral details for a gentleman who was an avid traveler, we set up a room with a beach and cruise ship theme. We've also created a beautiful garden in a visitation room for a woman who loved English gardens.

From dove, butterfly and balloon releases to arranging for a horse-drawn carriage from a nearby farm, it is our promise to work with you to create a funeral or memorial service as unique as your loved one.

Cremation services

We specialize in cremation services that honor loved ones in personalized ways, and families love our transparent pricing. With expertise in scattering ashes and a friendly team who pays attention to every detail, we provide service that is second to none.

More and more people are choosing cremation over traditional burial, but most aren’t familiar with the many options:

• a cremation without a funeral or memorial service of any kind.
• a funeral with your loved one present, followed by cremation.
• a cremation followed by a scattering, cemetery memorialization or celebration of life—or all three.

For those who wish for a more momentous memorial, Neptune Memorial Reef is an underwater cremation garden off the coast of Florida. A Celestis Memorial Spaceflight takes ashes into space for a little while or forever.

There are many options for cremation—and they're not all equal. Here's what you can expect when you choose us for your loved one's cremation:

• Custody of care guaranteed. Our custody-of-care program helps safeguard the identification of your loved one from the time we bring them into our care until the time we return them to your family. We check, cross-check and check again, every step of the way.
• Exclusive custody of your loved one. We use only crematories owned and operated by Dignity Memorial^® providers or trusted partners. Once your loved one is in our custody or that of a trusted partner, they’re in our care until they’re returned to your family.
• Licensed, certified, conscientious staff. All Dignity Memorial crematory operators are licensed and certified by Cremation Association of North America, or CANA. Only one person at a time is cremated, and the cremation chamber is thoroughly cleaned before the next person is cremated.

Resthaven Memorial Park

Established in 1926, Resthaven Memorial Park has been a peaceful final resting place for generations of Louisville families. Spanning 125 acres, we are a perpetual care cemetery with red brick pathways, well-manicured lawns and a variety of burial options.

We offer traditional in-ground burials, above-ground estates, build-to-suit and customizable options, private gated areas, bench estates, mausoleum crypts, stonewall cremation niches, granite memorials, boulder memorialization, cremation gardens and more. Our mission is to provide the personalized memorialization that people desire and deserve, so we strive to provide a diverse variety of choices.

Kentucky Heritage Garden

The newest section of Resthaven Memorial Park is the unique Kentucky Heritage Garden. A beautiful tribute to the traditions of bluegrass, this area features a tranquil setting designed for peaceful reflection. 

Located toward the front of the cemetery property, this garden honors the rich horse-racing tradition of the region. Strolling down the promenade toward the classic Kentucky Heritage Pavilion is like passing through decades of Kentucky thoroughbred tradition. You’ll notice polished marble markers displaying the names of the most revered people in horse racing.

The pavilion is a peaceful, open-air setting for family gatherings and services. The centerpiece of Kentucky Heritage Garden is a large metal statue of a thoroughbred in midstride, mane flowing and muscles straining toward a prize. Four cremation benches are found near this wonderful sculpture.

The garden features both traditional flat markers and raised monument sites. A tiered stonewall creates a sweeping arc behind the pavilion, cradling a row of private paddock estates and monuments. Between the paddock estates and the pavilion, pillow monument lots lie neatly in rows.

Other Kentucky Heritage Garden memorialization options include hedged estates, 8 polished marble benches (2 on each side of the pavilion) and 6 build-to-suit sites at the front corners of the garden.

Community events

We invite you to join us for community events throughout the year.

For Mother’s Day, we distribute pies to families visiting our property. We also host a weekend tribute during the Memorial Day weekend, placing flags throughout the property.

During the holiday season, we invite the public to attend our holiday candlelight memorial service. This non-denominational evening service is held inside the funeral home. It's led by our celebrant and a local minister, and includes live music as well as ornament gifts for all guests.

Public Servants Program

Arch L. Heady at Resthaven is a funeral home that participates in the Dignity Memorial® Public Servants Program. This program recognizes the courage and selflessness of public servants by offering dignified and honorable tributes, at no cost, for career and volunteer law enforcement officers, firefighters and emergency services personnel who die in the line of duty. It's our way of showing appreciation for their ultimate sacrifice.
