History

For more than 90 years, the dedicated team at Bond-Mitchell Funeral Home has provided care and compassion to Nashville-area families.

Bond-Mitchell Funeral Home was started in 1927 as Bond Funeral Home by the late Joshua Bond. Joshua opened the funeral home in Nashville because of a flu epidemic in the 1900s. At that time, there 2 two funeral homes in Nashville: one owned by Richard M. Coffey and one by Bond.

Eventually, Richard sold to Barkes and Albright of Columbus, which operated the funeral home for 2 years before selling it to Joshua. It was then that Bond-Mitchell Funeral Home became the only funeral home in Brown County, Indiana. In 1937, Earl and Jack Bond bought the funeral home. They were the second and third generations of the Bonds to manage the business.

Current management

In 1980, Jack sold to David Mitchell, and the name changed to Bond-Mitchell Funeral Home. David had worked for many years with Jack before he bought the thriving business.

Our current funeral director and manager, Earl Piper, has worked at Bond-Mitchell Funeral Home since 1992, helping Brown County families with their funeral service needs. Our staff also includes Scott J. Agnew and funeral directors Gary Arvin, Ann Kresler and Paul Clark. Longtime Brown County resident Jackie Roberts also has been involved with Bond-Mitchell Funeral Home for more than a decade.

Our team is privileged to serve Nashville's funeral and cremation needs, and we hope we can do the same for many years to come.
