Experienced associates
The associates at Kraeer Funeral Home and Cremation Center have many years of experience in planning funerals, burials, cremations and more. We’ve worked together for decades and consider ourselves family—a family here to serve yours.
We recognize that losing a loved one is a difficult emotional experience, and we take the job of making it easier very seriously. From creating the perfect multimedia tribute to ensuring that every last flower gets from the funeral home to the cemetery to giving your guests rides to and from the airport, we go the extra mile. No request is too large or too small for our team to handle with grace and attention to detail.
That effort extends to every aspect of service, and we always aim to celebrate life. Whether it’s a tea party for your aunt or a fishing theme for your grandfather, a butterfly release for your mother or a Scrabble party for your dad, we take the time to discover what mattered to your loved one and do everything we can to create a beautiful ceremony.

And, to accommodate those unable to attend services, we offer online live-stream broadcasts.
Cremation services in Coral Springs
We specialize in cremation services that honor loved ones in personalized ways, and families love our transparent pricing. With expertise in scattering ashes and a friendly team who pays attention to every detail, we provide service that is second to none.
More and more people are choosing cremation over traditional burial, but most aren’t familiar with the many options:
- a cremation without a funeral or memorial service of any kind.
- a funeral with your loved one present, followed by cremation.
- a cremation followed by a scattering, cemetery memorialization or celebration of life—or all three.
For those who wish for a more momentous memorial, Neptune Memorial Reef is an underwater cremation garden off the coast of Florida. A Celestis Memorial Spaceflight takes ashes into space for a little while or forever.
There are many options for cremation—and they're not all equal. Here's what you can expect when you choose us for your loved one's cremation:
- Custody of care guaranteed. Our custody-of-care program helps safeguard the identification of your loved one from the time we bring them into our care until the time we return them to your family. We check, cross-check and check again, every step of the way.
- Exclusive custody of your loved one. We use only crematories owned and operated by Dignity Memorial® providers or trusted partners. Once your loved one is in our custody or that of a trusted partner, they’re in our care until they’re returned to your family.
- Licensed, certified, conscientious staff. All Dignity Memorial crematory operators are licensed and certified by Cremation Association of North America, or CANA. Only one person at a time is cremated, and the cremation chamber is thoroughly cleaned before the next person is cremated.

History
R. Jay Kraeer attended mortuary science school in Cincinnati and moved to Florida with his wife Lorraine in the late 1940s. He and Lorraine opened their first funeral home—and the city’s first funeral home—in Pompano Beach in 1952 (visitations were held in the living room). He also provided the first ambulance service to Pompano Beach.
In 1957, Jay opened a second funeral home in Boca Raton. It was followed by another Pompano Beach location (1961), Deerfield Beach funeral home (1963), Fort Lauderdale location (1966), a location in Margate (1972) and a Coral Springs funeral home (1980). By the time Jay sold the Kraeer funeral homes to a group of employees, there were seven locations in Broward County.
That group then opened Kraeer Mason Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Tamarac.
Jay’s high expectations of his team helped establish Kraeer Funeral Home as a trusted and compassionate provider. He was respected by his peers in the funeral industry, and they elected him president of the National Funeral Directors Association in 1976.
He died in 2004, leaving his nephew Robert D. Russell to continue the Kraeer legacy. Robert—who lives in Fort Lauderdale with his wife Kelli—plays an active role in the funeral homes.
