History

Arthur Dawson founded Dawson Funeral Home and was joined later by his son, Robert. His grandson, R. Stephen Dawson, joined the firm in 1964 and served Central Ohio families until his retirement in December 2004. In 2015, R. Stephen Dawson was awarded the 50 Years of Funeral Directing Certificate by the State of Ohio.

William D. Given founded Given Funeral Home in 1970 after purchasing Glass Funeral Home on Main Street. In 1974, he also purchased the O’Neil Funeral Home on Main Street in West Lafayette, Ohio. His sons, Bill and Bob, joined the firm in 1976 and remain actively involved in client service to this day.

On July 1, 1981, Given Funeral Home purchased Dawson Funeral Home to form Given-Dawson Funeral Home. Jessica Paisley joined Given-Dawson Funeral Home as a funeral director and embalmer in 2008. Jessica became the firm's general manager 4 years later. In 2017, the firm added Jessica's name to become Given-Dawson-Paisley Funeral Home.
