History

In 1949, Jerry Weaver opened the doors of Weaver Mortuary to the small community in Beaumont, California, as the only mortuary for miles.

After a short time, Jerry met W.W. Hughes, who owned a small mortuary that opened in the mid-50s in Loma Linda. They became very good friends, and in 1959, W.W. opened Hughes Mortuary in the community of Yucaipa. It quickly became an integral part of the Yucaipa community with a reputation for the same dignified, respectful, end-of-life care for which Weaver Mortuary was known in Beaumont.

In 1975, Jerry’s son Lew bought Weaver Mortuary from his father. Many years later in 2005, Lew bought Hughes Mortuary. Lew named the business Weaver-Hughes Mortuary as a tribute to W.W., who knew Lew well and was confident he would carry on the same respectful work provided by his mortuary for years.

Dedicated to the Yucaipa community

Lew retired in 2008, leaving a legacy of exemplary service and dedication that continues at Weaver-Hughes Mortuary to this day.
