Chapel at Kuehl-Nicolay Funeral HomeKuehl-Nicolay Funeral Home provides a comfortable and inviting location for families to gather and celebrate the life of a loved one. Our chapel is bright and modern and seats approximately 120 guests.

Our professional funeral directors are available 24 hours a day, seven days a week to assist families through the difficult process of arranging their funeral and cremation needs, whether you need immediate assistance or are planning ahead.

History

Built in 1893, the Kuehl-Nicolay Funeral Home is a classic brick, Queen Anne Victorian-style structure and the only one of its kind in Paso Robles. Founder Otto Kuehl began renting the building in 1929 and arranged the first floor as a funeral home; he and his family lived on the second floor.

During this time, funeral services were often held at churches, so the funeral home had only a small chapel, family visiting room and casket room. A 150-seat chapel was added in 1940, along with a private family room and a music room equipped with a pipe organ. The large chapel also included a state-of-the-art air conditioning system and earthquake reinforcements.

Earthquake retrofitting was completed in the main funeral home in 2003, just prior to the December earthquake that damaged much of Paso Robles.

Today, Kuehl-Nicolay Funeral Home is a member of the Dignity Memorial ® network of funeral, cremation and cemetery service providers. With a long history in the Paso Robles community, it is our continued promise to provide the compassionate care and personalized service that you trust and expect from a locally operated funeral home while delivering the value you deserve.
