Traditional funerals and celebrations of life

Chapel at McAulay and Wallace MortuaryAt McAulay and Wallace Mortuary, we believe every service should be as unique as the life lived. We capture the essence of your loved one to create an event that honors your special person and gives friends and family a chance to come together and remember.

Perhaps it’s a barbecue in honor of the pit master, complete with live music and bottles of homemade sauce for guests to take home. Maybe it's an inspirational religious service with a reception afterward. Or perhaps it's a quiet outdoor scattering ceremony with the closest family and friends. No matter your wish, no matter the detail, we handle it all.

Whether you want to arrange a traditional funeral service or modern celebration of life, large gathering or more intimate service, we will work with you one-on-one to ensure your needs and budget are met. From floral arrangements to music selections, decor, mementos and more, we guide you through your choices with care.

Cremation in Fullerton

Signature Dedication at Brevard Memorial Funeral Home & ParkWe specialize in cremation services that honor loved ones in personalized ways, and families love our all-inclusive pricing. With expertise in scattering ashes and a friendly team who pays attention to every detail, we provide service that is second to none.

More and more people are choosing cremation over traditional burial, but most aren’t familiar with the many options:

  • a cremation without a funeral or memorial service of any kind.
  • a funeral with your loved one present, followed by cremation.
  • a cremation followed by a scattering, cemetery memorialization or celebration of life—or all three.

And for those who wish for something more momentous, Neptune Memorial Reef™ is an underwater cremation garden off the coast of Florida. A Celestis Memorial Spaceflight takes ashes into space for a little while or forever.

History

Angus McAulay and Harry Suters opened McAulay & Suters Funeral Home in September 1911. It sat at the intersection of Spadra Road (Harbor Boulevard) and Chapman Avenue in Fullerton. In 1941, Angus and Harry moved the mortuary to its current location. Angus died within a year of opening the new location. His son, A. Jay McAulay, took over as the McAulay partner.

Jay went to fight with the U.S. Navy in World War II. When he returned, he resumed his role at the funeral home. Jay worked alongside Harry until Harry’s death in the 1960s. Harry’s widow, Susan, was an active partner until her death.

Jay sold an interest in the business to Tom Wallace in 1969. At that time, the name of the mortuary was changed to McAulay and Wallace Mortuary. Jay’s son, Bill, joined the family business in 1971.

The partners extensively remodeled and expanded the mortuary in late 1973 and 1974. Jay died about the time the remodel was finished. Tom and Bill ran the business together until Tom retired in 1992. Bill ran the business and continued the family legacy, caring for families in Fullerton and Yorba Linda, until it became part of the Dignity Memorial® network in 2022.
