Truly personalized funerals and memorials
From our beautiful West Main Street funeral home, we take care of you, focusing on your family and the life being celebrated. The Claude R. Boyd–Spencer Funeral Home team specializes in personalization, taking time to get to know your loved one, discovering what made that person tick and creating a memorable memorial or funeral service that truly reflects the life lived.
How does that play out?
Whether you are seeking a simple cremation service; a full traditional funeral with a graveside memorial and cemetery burial; or a modern celebration with a band and a send-off that reflects the passions of your loved one, we go the extra mile to make it happen—and we do it with a level of care and compassion that's uncommon in this world.
Want a dove release? You got it. A motorcycle processional? A funeral canoe instead of a casket? A veterans service with full military honors? Yes, yes, and yes. If you can imagine it, we can do it. We also have ideas that may not have occurred to you.
Our team of experienced, compassionate professionals listens to what you say and executes every detail with exquisite care. From creating a multimedia presentation celebrating a life to arranging for a person’s favorite flowers to hiring musicians, we have the knowledge and resources to fully personalize a funeral or memorial service and help ensure an enduring legacy.
Our magnificent Lakeside funeral home
Our funeral home is a picturesque place to celebrate life. Once a private home, Claude R. Boyd–Spencer Funeral Home’s lakeside estate is a landmark in Babylon. Located on a main thoroughfare, the funeral home is a place you might pass by often. The size of the building, its stately facade and the manicured grounds inspire warm feelings.
The lobby’s indoor pond is a conversation starter, and the light-filled chapel seats up to 100 and overlooks the lake. We have plenty of quiet spaces to sit and talk with friends and 3 visitation rooms also filled with natural daylight.
From the moment you enter our funeral home, we hope you feel welcome here—and we hope you stay in touch even after the funeral or memorial is over.
Cremation services
We specialize in cremation services that honor loved ones in personalized ways, and families love our transparent pricing. With expertise in scattering ashes and a friendly team who pays attention to every detail, we provide service that is second to none.
More and more people are choosing cremation over traditional burial, but most aren’t familiar with the many options:
- a cremation without a funeral or memorial service of any kind.
- a funeral with your loved one present, followed by cremation.
- a cremation followed by a scattering, cemetery memorialization or celebration of life—or all three.
For those who wish for a more momentous memorial, Neptune Memorial Reef is an underwater cremation garden off the coast of Florida. A Celestis Memorial Spaceflight takes ashes into space for a little while or forever.
There are many options for cremation—and they're not all equal. Here's what you can expect when you choose us for your loved one's cremation:
- Custody of care guaranteed. Our custody-of-care program helps safeguard the identification of your loved one from the time we bring them into our care until the time we return them to your family. We check, cross-check and check again, every step of the way.
- Exclusive custody of your loved one. We use only crematories owned and operated by Dignity Memorial® providers or trusted partners. Once your loved one is in our custody or that of a trusted partner, they’re in our care until they’re returned to your family.
- Licensed, certified, conscientious staff. All Dignity Memorial crematory operators are licensed and certified by Cremation Association of North America, or CANA. Only one person at a time is cremated, and the cremation chamber is thoroughly cleaned before the next person is cremated.

History
In 1934, Claude Boyd founded what is now Claude R. Boyd–Spencer Funeral Home, in Babylon Village, New York. It was located in a storefront on East Main Street, in the heart of the village. It wasn’t a large place—at the time, most families held funerals for their loves ones at their personal homes.
As Babylon Village grew, however, and funeral trends evolved, Claude R. Boyd–Spencer Funeral Home needed a larger building, so Claude acquired a magnificent lakeside estate on West Main Street in 1954. He turned what was a private home on about 7 acres into the area’s premier provider of funeral, cremation and cemetery services.
A little more than 10 years later, he found that the business needed still more space, and he added onto the house in 1965. Today, the original part of the house serves as the funeral home lobby and offices; the addition holds visitation rooms, family rooms and one of the larger chapels on Long Island. Our meticulously manicured grounds and warm, bright funeral home are beautiful places to celebrate life.
The funeral home team is committed to carrying on the vision of our founder and the legacy of care and compassion that is the very foundation of our mission.
