Patrick Joseph Monks

Patrick Joseph Monks was born on January 15, 1935 to parents Claude Monks and Carmen (Fox) Monks Bertram in Lansing, MI. He graduated from Grand Rapids Catholic High School in 1954 and Aquinas College in 1959 in Grand Rapids, MI.

Patrick moved to Yuma, AZ in the early 60's where he worked as a teacher at McGraw Elementary School. He began working at Fourth Ave Junior High in 1965, where he remained through his retirement in May of 1990. In 1966, he married his wife of 49 years, Karen McGough. In his spare time, Patrick enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. He also enjoyed being an active member of Immaculate Conception Church.

He is survived by his wife Karen of Yuma, AZ; daughter Laura of Yuma, AZ; son Joseph (Vicki) of Chandler, AZ; grandchildren Keegan and Kylie; and his brother John (Dorothy) of Jackson, MI. He is preceded in death by his parents, Claude Monks and Carmen (Fox) Monks Bertram.

There will be a Visitation Service from 6-8pm on Tuesday, May 10th at Johnson Mortuary, with a Rosary beginning at 7pm. Mass will be held on Wednesday May 11th at 10am at Immaculate Conception Church. followed by the burial service at Desert Lawn Memorial Park.
