Margarito was born in Panuco, Veracruz, Mexico, and raised in Cerritos, San Luis Potosi, Mexico, then immigrated to the U.S. as a young man. He made Weslaco, Texas, his first home until he settled in Yuma, Arizona, where, after the death of his first wife, Francisca, he became the heart and soul of his large family. Margarito remarried, became a naturalized U.S. citizen, worked hard, retired from Trans-West Cooling, and enjoyed life. He loved traveling, being outdoors, music and dancing, eating out, spending time at the local casinos, and he cherished time with family and friends. Margarito was generous, soft-spoken, wise, compassionate, incredibly patient and encouraging, with a wonderful sense of humor. He was a long-term parishioner of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, and most importantly, a devotee of La Virgen de Guadalupe and a man of great faith. In good times and in difficult times, he always expressed gratefulness and his trust in God. Even after suffering a stroke, he faced his last year of life with unwavering faith and humility. His gentle spirit and words of wisdom will be sorely missed by all who loved him.
He was preceded in death by his first wife Francisca Perez; brothers Tomas (Eulalia) Perez, Clemente (Tomasa) Perez, Felipe (Elisa) Perez, Fermin Perez; sister Aurelia (Tereso) Morales; and parents Agapita and Valente Perez.
Margarito is survived by his wife Evelia Perez and his brother Jesus (Veronica) Perez; sons Daniel (Frances) Perez, Ruben Perez, Javier Perez, Rolando Perez, Rojelio (James) Perez, Jesse (Stephanie) Perez, Margarito Perez Jr.; daughter Yolanda (Richard) Perez; grandchildren Victoria (Alix) Perez, Dominique (Craig) Jaggs, Alexandra Perez, Alyssa Perez, Jessica Perez, Isaiah Perez, Julian Perez, Yasmin Perez, Yvonne Garcia, Aritza Garcia, and Daniel Westing; great-grandchildren Elius Perez and Riot Villanueva.
