She was born in La Cuestita, Michoacán, Mexico on January 1, 1929, but lived most of her life in Calexico with her husband of 69 years, Pedro Garibay. After the passing of her husband in 2015, she moved to Yuma to be with children and grandchildren. Juanita, an extremely hardworking woman, retired from Bud Antle, Inc. in 1991. She was a well-respected woman of strong faith who was enormously proud of her family. Juanita made a point to attend every family reunion and always stressed the importance of family unity. She was a talented cook that enjoyed sharing her recipes and life’s stories with her grandchildren.
Juanita is survived by her sons: Rutilio (Francisca), Rafael (Isabel), Jose Luis (Karla), Pedro (Maria); daughters, Gloria (Gustavo) Arizaga, Adela (Dennis) Castillo, and Rosa (Victor) Paredes. Juanita is also survived by her 21 grandchildren, 34 great-grandchildren, and 15 great-great-grandchildren.
Services will be at Johnson Mortuary & Desert Lawn Memorial in Yuma, AZ on Monday, March 14, 2022.
