Jerome "Jerry" Arnold Shumate Jr.

Jerry served with distinction for 13 years in the US Navy as a pilot and navigator. Upon receiving his discharge, Jerry went on to become the Manager of the Disability Claims Office of the California Employment Development Department.

Jerry is survived by his spouse, Valerie Shumate; his son Curtis Shumate (Dawn) of Oak Harbor, Washington; his son Kenneth Shumate (Lori) of Spokane, Washington; his daughter Shonya Threatts (Andrew) of Cincinnati, Ohio; his son Jerome "Jay" A. Shumate, III of El Cajon, California; his son Joshua Shumate (Katie) of El Cajon, California; and his son Joseph Shumate (Tiffany) of El Cajon, California; his sister Kay LaBelle of Belleville, Illinois and his brother Linal Shumate (Nancy) of Port Sanilac, Michigan; and his beloved niece Nancy Dietz Moerland (David) of Yuma, AZ.

Jerry also leaves behind 15 Grandchildren and four Great-Grandchildren.

A private cremation will be handled by Desert Lawn Memorial Park Crematory in Yuma, AZ.
