Angelo was preceded in death by his wife of 48 years, Josephine Nightingale Lemme, who passed away in 2008.
He is survived by his son, Wayne Lemme of Yuma, AZ; his daughters Debra Mowery and Audra Lemme of Yuma, AZ; and Tina Svaranowic of Yorktown, VA; grandchildren Wayne Lemme, AnnMarie Lemme, Joe and Stephen Mowery, Mariah and Carson Lemme, and Michaela, Jovina, and Nicole Svaranowic.
Angelo was proud to serve his country in the U.S. Marine Corps during an illustrious 20-year career. He enlisted in the Marine Corps in 1954. During the Vietnam War, Angelo earned the Navy Marine Corps Medal for Heroism during his heroic actions in 1965 in Chu Lai, Vietnam, when he saved a pilot from a burning fighter jet during a hot refueling mission.
Angelo moved to Yuma in 1971 when he was assigned to Yuma Marine Corps Air Station.
After retiring from the Marine Corps in 1974, Angelo again served his country, this time as a civil servant at the US Army Yuma Proving Ground. He began his service there in 1981 and retired from civil service in 1996.
Angelo was well known around the Yuma community for his love of high school sports and support of military veterans. In his spare time, he was a renowned carpenter and woodworker, and enjoyed following minor league baseball and Pittsburgh Steelers football with a deep passion.

Visitation will be held from 5:00-7:00 P.M., along with the recitation of the Holy Rosary at 6:00 P.M., on Wednesday, March 14, 2012, at Johnson Mortuary, 1415 S. 1st Ave, Yuma, AZ. A funeral mass will be held at St. Thomas Mission, Thursday, March 15, 2012 at 10:00 A.M. Interment will follow at Desert Lawn Memorial Park, Yuma, AZ.
